How long can the Russia-Ukraine war last?

  • Several countries begin to make a forecast about the duration of the war

United States intelligence services maintain a “fragile” optimism about the current situation in Ukraine and they believe that the invasion of the country ordered by the Russian president, Vladimir Putir, could intensify in the short term.

US intelligence sources told CNN that the Ukrainian Army has so far managed to stall the Russian ground forces some 30 kilometers north of the besieged capital, without reaching the center of kyiv.

The United States, France and the United Kingdom have already predicted that the Ukraine war may last for years

But while the Ukrainians have defied all predictions regarding what appeared to be a swift assault by Russian forces, there are signs that Putin could imminently increase the intensity of the attack, says CNN. The worst is yet to come and could be extended over time, they warn from the Pentagon.

For his part, the deputy prime minister of the United Kingdom, Dominic Raab, already warned this Sunday that the war in Ukraine can go on for years and considered that the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, he downplayed the difficulties of an invasion.

“We must be clear that our mission, together with our allies, is to make sure Putin fails in Ukraine, and that’s going to take some time. We’re talking months, if not years,” Raab said in an interview with Sky News.

The same prognosis was made by the French president a day before, Emmanuel Macron, when he warned his citizens that “the war will last”, for which he asked to have “determination” and advanced that a plan is being prepared to face its consequences.
