If you are obliged to file the Income Tax return, you have to be careful since it is also the season for fraud carried out by cybercriminals.
The Income campaign began just a few weeks ago and this means that millions of people have to start preparing the documentation to present to the Treasury. But also launches hundreds of cybercriminals whose sole intention is to steal user information through different strategies.
As if the pressure and stress generated by the Income campaign were not enough, also We must be careful in case we receive any type of fraudulent link that intends to steal data. Throughout the months that the campaign lasts, a large number of examples will begin to come to light, such as the one we are going to relate below.
It has been the Civil Guard that has discovered this fraud and that has made people alert thanks to the publication of a tweet that includes several screenshots in which you can see how certain cybercriminals act. The way of working is the same as always: they try to take advantage of the stress situation.
In the message published by the Civil Guard on Twitter you can see four screenshots. The first screenshot refers to an email that the cybercriminals would have sent and in which You can see a supposedly official email, with the logo of the Tax Agency and the Government of Spain.
What appears written in this message is that the Tax Agency would urge you to pay a pending fine and in the same email a link would appear to access the payment process. Come on, what they want is for you to click on this link and then steal as much information as possible.

It would not be the only way in which cybercriminals would try to steal information or carry out fraud, there is another email that meets all of the above. Yes indeed, this time it refers to the fact that there would be a legal action to be resolved with the Tax Agency and, therefore, it would be necessary to access it to solve it.
Finally, the two screenshots that complete the tweet have the same operating system. Cybercriminals send two emails with attached documents, the first refers to a bank transfer and the other is a supposed tax refund. In both cases these two documents are false.
The best way to avoid falling for this type of scam and fraud is not to open any of these emails. If you present the Income Tax return and you receive a message that refers to this via email or SMS, it is best to access the Tax Agency website directly.
Once inside the Tax Agency page, what you have to do is check your profile if any notification has been sent. And, it is that, if the notification of the email or SMS is true, it will appear in the notification tray of the Treasury and you will be able to consult it, in addition to resolving in the event that it is not something favorable.
