How to stand in the next country elections

The Ministry of Agriculture publishes the call for the electoral procedure for the representativeness of agrarian organizations in Extremadura

The Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, Population and Territory publishes this Friday in the Official Gazette of Extremadura (DOE) the decree that calls for the electoral procedure to determine the representativeness of legally constituted professional agricultural organizations, with implantation in the Community, and subsequent constitution of the Plenary Session of the Agrarian Advisory Council of Extremadura.

The field elections will be held on May 8, 2022, fifty-seven calendar days from the date the electoral procedure begins.

In accordance with the provisions of article 306 of Law 6/2015 of March 24, the Agrarian Law of Extremadura, the constituency to hold the electoral procedure will be unique.

Regarding the legal regime related to the right to vote, the regularization of voting by mail, the scrutiny of the votes, results, as well as the allocation of positions and all those issues that have a direct or indirect impact on the electoral process, it will be applied Organic Law 5/1985, of June 19, on the General Electoral Regime, and the regulations that develop it.

From the Board they also recall that the professional agricultural organizations or coalitions of these that stand for election must have a presence in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura and meet the requirements contained in current regulations.

Presentation of applications

There will be a period of ten days to present the candidacies, according to the requirements established by the DOE, with the Central Commission notifying the admission or inadmissibility of the candidacy, seven days after the presentation.

The publication of the accepted candidacies will be verified within forty days from the start date of the electoral process established in the call, and will be published in the DOE, as well as on the Ministry’s website. Against this publication, the appropriate ordinary resources may be filed.

According to the call, the electoral campaign will last fifteen calendar days, starting at midnight on Friday, April 22, 2022 and ending at midnight on Friday, May 6, in accordance with current regulations.

Regarding the people who make up the Central Commission, as well as those who participate as observers, the list can be consulted in this Friday’s publication.

Elections to the field

Thus, five years after the last elections to the field held in 2017, on May 8, the renewal and election of the elected members who will form part of the new Agrarian Advisory Council of Extremadura will proceed, in accordance with the provisions of the Law 6/2015, of March 24.

In this way, with the decree approved last Wednesday, the legal regime is established and it is indicated who can be candidate agricultural professional organizations, as explained at a press conference in Mérida after the Governing Council of the Board, the spokesman for the regional Executive, Juan Antonio Gonzalez.

With this, once the deadline for complaints to the provincial census by agricultural organizations ended on March 2, the Junta de Extremadura is currently analyzing them and a definitive census will be published on March 22, to which In turn, claims may also be made.
