Who’s Playing

Washington @ Atlanta

Current Records: Washington 35-44; Atlanta 41-38

What to Know

The Washington Wizards and the Atlanta Hawks will face off at 8 p.m. ET April 6 at State Farm Arena without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Washington will be strutting in after a victory while Atlanta will be stumbling in from a loss.

The Wizards had enough points to win and then some against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday, taking their game 132-114. Washington can attribute much of their success to center Daniel Gafford, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Atlanta came up short against the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday, falling 118-108. A silver lining for Atlanta was the play of point guard Trae Young, who posted a double-double on 26 points and 15 dimes.

Washington is now 35-44 while the Hawks sit at 41-38. The Wizards have been eliminated from playoff contention. Atlanta is still in the hunt for a spot in the playoffs, so these next three games are critical for them.

Washington have to know they’ll be fighting an uphill battle given the 10.50 point spread they are up against. The smart bettors have been the ones to keep their money on Washington’s opponents whenever they hit the road.

It was close but no cigar for Washington as they fell 117-114 to Atlanta in the teams’ previous meeting in March. Can the Wizards avenge their defeat, or is history doomed to repeat itself? We’ll soon find out.
