Alkázar Theater Program

The 27 shows scheduled until December also include ‘Rocío Jurado, el musical’ and seven plays for the whole family

The Alkázar theater opens a new season on October 1 with a program that will bring to the city actors of the stature of Javier Gutiérrez and Joaquín Climent and comedians such as José Corbacho and David Guapo. But the program prepared until December also includes music, dance and performances for the whole family.

In total there are 27 shows until December, of which 9 are theatrical performances, 7 family shows, as many musicals, two comedy shows and two others are charity dance galas, as detailed this Wednesday in the presentation of the season by the Councilor for Culture , Marisa Bermejo, and the person in charge of the Coliseum in Placentino, Juan Ramón Santos.

The children’s show ‘When is Samuel coming?’, by Ultramarinos de Luchas, and the tribute concert to Queen, ‘Capitán Mercury’, open the programming this weekend. And it will continue on October 7 with the staging of the first play: ‘The Machado brothers’, “an emotional play about the relationship between Antonio and Manuel”, explained Santos, in charge of the Teatro del Temple.

A musical journey through well-known children’s stories, ‘¡Qué festín!’, will arrive at the Alkázar on October 16, and ‘The caretaker’, with Joaquín Climent, Álex Barahona and Juan Díaz, will be shown on October 21. It is one of the plays that arrive in the city thanks to the Platea Plan.

‘Let’s have fun’, again a show for the whole family, and Molière’s ‘Tartufo’ brought to the present day by Teatro de Papel, are the focus of the Alkázar’s agenda on 22 and 28 October, respectively. And the month is closed on the 29th by one of the musical highlights of the new season, ‘Rocío Jurado, el musical’, the show produced by the singer’s daughter who arrives with Green Cow Music.

‘Satanás’, by Luna Teatro, opens on November 4; Aulaga Folk will present its new work on the 5th, ‘El rodar del bolindre’, in which the group balances the fusion of ethnic music and symphonic avant-garde with rock touches; and on the 6th there will be another family show, ‘Latas’, by the D’Click company.

On November 11 it will be the turn of one of the great theatrical performances: ‘The innocent saints’, with Javier Gutiérrez, Pepa Pedroche and Jacobo Dicenta in the cast, and the Peña Flamenca Placentina will occupy the Alkázar on November 12 with a classic in programming, its flamenco festival ‘García Matos’.

Humor will arrive on November 13 with the new monologue by David Guapo; on the 18th the theater returns with ‘Segismundo chained’, an updated staging of ‘Life is a Dream’ by Calderón; and on the 19th, humor is once again the protagonist with ‘Above all, very calm’, by Pepe Corbacho.

The performances ‘Among fools anda el game’ and ‘The Bremen Town Musicians’ close in November. And in December, the Alkázar will host the staging of ‘The Three Musketeers’, ‘Yerma’ by García Lorca, ‘A Journey in Time’, ‘What Color is a Kiss?’ and ‘The four seasons… are no longer what they used to be’. It will also be the month of Christmas concerts with the Municipal Band and the Plasencia Philharmonic and charity dance galas with Lunares and Plantagenet.

But in addition to the 27 scheduled shows, in the next three months the Alkázar will host another fifteen events, such as the celebration of the day of the elderly or the delivery of the Pop Eye, “which are also part of the activity of the theater and that put manifest its high use”, Bermejo and Santos highlighted.

Tickets for all the shows, as well as in person at the box office on the day of the performance, can be purchased online through the website culturaplasencia.es. And this year, after two years without them due to covid, the programming will be in paper format in brochures that can be obtained at the Alkázar, the City Hall and Las Claras.
