The Andalusian José Medel has been proclaimed winner of the Optimist Excellence Cup Trophy, after this Tuesday the wind conditions have allowed to recover the time and celebrate three tests. The CN Puerto Sherry sailor beats the sailor of the Real Club de Regatas de Alicante, Eugenio Ribelles, by four points, who in turn takes out two from the RCN de Adra sailor, José Manuel Cuellar, third. The top 10 of the Excellence Cup Trophy are completed by Guilherme Morais from Portugal and Joaquín Valero from Alicante, ninth and tenth in this order. After two blank days due to the calm, today was a day marked by winds that were rising from 7 knots of intensity in the first test to 11/12 of the second and third, moving from 290º to 320º. The regatta committee started a fourth test that would have allowed it to be discarded, but before the arrival of the first group at mark number 1 of the course, the wind was moving at 330º and was climbing at 20 knots, which advised to cancel and send the fleet to land. In any case, everything possible has been done to achieve a quick and profitable day, which leaves the hosts and the sailors who have traveled from afar with a good taste in order not to miss a regatta that has brought together around 150 sailors from eight autonomous communities and four countries.
