The Jurassic adventure comes to an end (for now) this week, when the third installment of the latest trilogy premieres.

Cinema is that art capable of reviving the dinosaurs, extinct 66 million years ago. Spielberg’s virtuosity in telling stories gave a generation of children the dream of entering an alternate reality in which velociraptors, triceraptors and tyrannosaurus rex roamed freely alongside humans. It is reason enough to love cinema and science fiction from that very day.

‘Jurassic Park’, the adaptation of the novel by Michael Crichton, was a box office phenomenon and is now a cult film. Beyond being an action-adventure movie, it opens the door to a series of moral debates about science and nature. A separate mention deserves the superb soundtrack by John Williams that continues to make your hair stand on end, pure magic.

The Jurassic adventure comes to an end (for now), after the premiere of the third installment of the latest trilogy. ‘ Jurassic World: Dominion ‘has the responsibility of closing a saga that means a lot to fans and has earned its place in the collective imagination. The film also features the return of the protagonists of the original film: the brave Ellie Sattler, the restrained Alan Grant and the flamboyant but lucid scientist Ian Malcolm.

But before seeing it we will review all the tapes that make up this universe of ‘Jurassis Park’, from worst to best:

6. ‘Jurassic Park 3’

In 2001 the initial trilogy was closed, which did not stop declining until reaching this film, which we could place as the worst of the Jurassic collection. This film is a kind of filler tape that was simply entertaining but did not convince critics or the public. It is the first that was not directed by Spielberg, which is missed. With great special effects but no soul. Sam Neill recommissioned the most famous paleontologist in cinema for this installment and has recently defended it. However, many have seen it purely as a formality, forgetting it at the end.

5. ‘Jurassic World 2: Fallen Kingdom’

The Spanish JA Bayona fulfilled one of his dreams: to direct a film of the ‘Jurassic Park’ saga, a production that had fascinated him as a child. From this was born ‘Jurassic World 2: The Fallen Kingdom’, the last film released to date.

Its problem is that it doesn’t add anything new and despite the fact that it has large doses of tension and action, it doesn’t feel cold or hot.

4. ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’

‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ closes the new trilogy and puts an end to the story started by Spielberg in 1993. The production has the return of the original trio of stars with Laura Dern, Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum, which is a plus .

Thus, ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ is a self-tribute with a large number of references to the saga. Pure entertainment with a content audiovisual display that does not leave suspense aside.

Chris Pratt:

3. ‘Jurassic Park: The Lost World’

They say second parts were never good. The truth is that ‘Jurassic Park: The Lost World’ was going to suffer from the beginning the ballast of being compared to its predecessor. From the outset, viewers were no longer going to be amazed when they saw the first dinosaur.

Steven Spielberg repeated in the address and re-impregnated his narrative nerve. Now the total prominence fell on the character of Ian Malcolm, the eccentric scientist who is almost always right.

Everything is more spectacular than in the original, but with less heart.

2. ‘Jurassic World’

‘Jurassic World’ marked the return of the saga after 15 years. Produced by Steven Spielberg himself, it was the opportunity to see living dinosaurs on the big screen again. And not only that, we could finally see millionaire John Hammond’s dream come true, a dinosaur theme park.

Nostalgia played an important role in making the premiere a success. Also the entry of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard as new protagonists was a success. But, in addition, the film had something: it recovered the best of the first one and added new ideas and elements accurately. It launched new questions, such as: can a dinosaur be tamed?

1. ‘Jurassic Park’

No subsequent production has come close to the magic of the first film. Spielberg took viewers on an astonishing journey between shuddering tyrannosaurus rex footsteps, distant roars and moments of unbearable tension.

In addition, the cast of actors managed to connect with the viewers due to their uniqueness and the dinosaurs, with less CGI than the current ones, seemed more real. Unrepeatable.
