Morning Rob and his friends, have followed the Warwickshire bus to arguably the nation’s top sporting venues, Trent Bridge, so it feels like a win-win pitch from a neutral perspective (I’m stating this, both being born in Nottingham but now based in leafy South Brum). If Notts beats, we can see Olly Stone coming back steaming; should they enter the field, it’s Stuart Broad’s return against newly created Wisden cricketer of the year, Dom Sibley, making for a tantalizing new ball battle.
Who knows, we could see all of this today and more with a lot of good players on both sides. The sun is shining, the boundary looks extraordinarily short where the New Stand along Bridgford Road intersects diagonally, and the teams, which they drew last week, are doing their usual flea circus warm-up exercises in the outfield. Cute.
… and Nottinghamshire have won the toss and will hit.
