Liverpool vs Leeds LIVE: Premier League team news, line-ups and more tonight as Luis Diaz and Raphinha start

Leeds United’s thriller Premier League return vs Liverpool

Follow all the action as Liverpool host Leeds in the Premier League this evening.

Jurgen Klopp’s side can close the gap at the top of the table to just three points with a victory tonight and are in terrific form, having won their last five league games in succession. They will have to do without Roberto Firminho and Diogo Jota, though, who are in a race against time to be fit for the Carabao Cup final this Sunday. The Reds did stroll to a comfortable 3-0 win when the two sides met at Elland Road last September, with Mohamed Salah, Fabinho and Sadio Mane all scoring as Pascal Struijk was sent off for the hosts.

Leeds have been drawn into a relegation battle at the bottom of the table after a torrid run. Marcelo Bielsa’s side have taken just one point from their last four league games, although they did briefly give Manchester United a scare last time out. Leeds continue to be plagued by injuries too, with Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford still long-term absentees, while Raphinha was dropped by Bielsa last weekend amid reports of a falling out between the pair.

Liverpool vs Leeds: Klich previews Liverpool game

Leeds midfielder Mateusz Kilch is looking forward to kicking off against Liverpool this evening and hopes the game will emulate the clash between these sides last year that saw the Reds win a seven-goal thriller 4-3. Klich said:

It was a good game last season, I scored. It was exciting as not many of us had played in the Premier League before and we saw the schedule with Liverpool away for the first game and they were the best team in Europe at that point.

“It was an unbelievable game, my dream was to score a goal in the Premier League and I did it. Even though we lost 4-3, everyone was very positive about us and excited and we only left with good feelings.

“This game is going to be better though with the fans as well, so I’m sure it will be a good game. Liverpool are one of the best teams in the country, especially when Virgil Van Dijk came back, now they’re now back to the shape they were in when they won the Premier League and Champions League.

“It is another tough game and then we have Tottenham, but there are no easy games in the Premier League. If someone thinks for example thinks playing Burnley away is way easier than playing Liverpool, it is not right, because they are all difficult games in the Premier League and all difficult opponents.

“This is going to be massive for our fans and us, I personally love playing in big games and I can’t wait.”

Liverpool vs Leeds: Bielsa reflects on Man Utd defeat

Leeds manager, Marcelo Bielsa, spoke about his team’s last fixture and how the result – a 4-2 loss to Manchester United at home – wasn’t a fair reflection of the game. He said:

The dominance was alternate [against Manchester United]. The situations we created at goal were similar. The difference in the play between the two teams, you couldn’t see a massive difference.

“The result the game deserved wasn’t our defeat, but I also feel uncomfortable that again we didn’t deserve what we deserved to get. We need to see the reasons why we are conceding all these goals and prevent the reasons why this is happening.”

Liverpool v Leeds

Leeds have lost six of their last nine Premier League fixtures, earning just seven points during that period. They could concede at least three goals in four successive league games for the first time since March 1960.
