Llerenense lives this Saturday the most important game in its history. As a representative of Extremadura –after their victory in the territorial final against Moralo– and with a dedicated Llerena, the team coached by Luismi Álvarez is playing for promotion to the Second RFEF against Ourense CF at the Ciudad del Fútbol de las Rozas (10:00 p.m. ).

With around 300 tickets sold, according to the club, for its part and a large planned mobilization towards the Madrid town by buses and private vehicles, Llerenense left for Las Rozas on Friday surrounded by fans who encouraged the team. Once they arrived in the Community of Madrid, the squad trained at the Ciudad Deportiva Cerro del Espino in Majadahonda.

Their rival will be Ourense, who finished second in the Galician RFEF Third Division group and were only one point away from direct promotion. The team trained by Rubén Domínguez, after getting rid of Fabril and Barco in the territorial qualifiers, is also looking to achieve the coveted promotion. The Galicians form a young team, with very fast players and a strong defense that will surely make Llerena’s attacks difficult.

two key pieces

Mario Tomé (34 years old) and Carlos ‘Toy’ (39 years old), both from Llerena and captains of the team, will be two of those in charge of bringing the enthusiasm that is being experienced in Llerena to the Las Rozas pitch. Both, youth players of the club and with long careers behind them, will be part of the list of players on the squad that will play the most important match in the history of a club that has never overcome the barrier of the Third Division.

Carlos confesses to being somewhat “nervous”, but also “excited”. “We have never experienced this and we are looking forward to the game,” he says. For his part, Mario Tomé explains that in his career he has already played a game as important as this one, but he believes “that this one is above others because he is with the team of his life”.

Llerenense, who was close to relegation last year and had a poor first round this season, was able to come back to the playoff positions and is now in the definitive final. Toy affirms that the squad “has always believed in the team that was there”. «At the beginning of the season the board bet heavily on the team, brought important players and also stayed with people from the house. We believed that the team could achieve this. It is true that we had a bad time in the first lap, but the team has shown that it is strong and that we are all on the same page », he points out.

After the emotional farewell of the fans and a week in which Llerenense has been the main topic of conversation in the town, Tomé states that «it has been a very exciting thing for everyone. During this week in the town there was no talk of anything else. People are excited, I think all of Llerena is going to follow us and we are going to try to give everything because we know that so many young people, children and adults are with us », he comments.

Toy and Tomé also send a message of thanks to the fans ahead of this match. “The whole team thanks the fans because they were there in bad times, they showed in Almendralejo that the town is united and we know that many people are going to come here,” says Carlos. Mario, who shares the message of his partner, adds that «when things went wrong, they continued to support and now it is a prize for them and for us. I hope you enjoy a lot from home or from here and that we can give you that much-desired promotion.
