UP HERE IS GASTON, AN AREA TO WATCH MOVING NORTH OF AFRICA. ANOTHER AREA TO WATCH. BUT THE ONE WE ARE WATCHING IS INVEST 98 EL. LET’S TAKE THIS FULL AND JUST INVESTIGATE THAT. AND WHAT YOU’LL NOTICE IS THERE’S NOT MUCH THERE. IT’S LIKE, WHERE IS THIS SYSTEM? A LITTLE BIT OF CONVECTION, CERTAINLY. THE HURRICANE CENTER SAYS THIS IS THE AREA WHERE IT COULD DEVELOP. AND AS YOU LOOK AT THE GLOBAL FORECAST MODELS, IT’S KIND OF ALL OVER THE PLACE. THESE THINGS SAMPLES. SO WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW, IS THERE SOMETHING THAT COULD GET INTO THE GULF BY NEXT WEDNESDAY? AND ELLA WE’RE GOING TO BE WATCHING THAT CAREFULLY. MEANWHILE, HIGH PRESSURE DOMINATING OUR WEATHER. A FEW SHOWERS MOVED IN THIS EVENING. AND GOSH, WAS IT HOT? A RECORD HIGH AT THE AIRPORT TIED ONE OVER AT GULFPORT, RATHER, THE RECORD HIGH AT SLIDELL. AT THE AIRPORT, WE HAD 95, THE RECORD 96. WE JUST MISSED IT. BUT TOMORROW I THINK WE WILL HIT IT. 83 DEGREES. NOW FEELING LIKE 90 AND ACROSS THE AREA, UPPER SEVENTIES TO THE MID EIGHTIES. WE HAVE HAD A LITTLE BIT OF RAIN THERE. YOU CAN SEE IT MAINLY ON THE SOUTH SHORE IN THE MORNING AND HOME. YOU’RE DIPPING INTO THE MID SEVENTIES METRO IN THE UPPER SEVEN DAYS AND THEN YOU CAN SEE IN COVINGTON AND DROPPING DOWN TO ABOUT 72 ALONG THE COAST, THE WIND NORTH AT 5 TO 10 TIDAL RANGE IS PRETTY GOOD. AND TOMORROW IS GOING TO BE HOT. SUMMER IS HANGING TOUGH FOLK EVEN THOUGH WE’VE GOT FALL ARRIVING. HI

Hurricane Fiona has winds of 130 mph. Gaston has 65 mph winds. Medium chance tropical development for wave over Africa now. Low chance tropical development for tropical wave in East Atlantic. High chance tropical development for Invest 98-L moving into the Caribbean. It is not organized. It is dealing with dry air and some wind shear, but is over warm water. Forecast models take it towards the Yucatan Channel by about Wednesday of next week. The GFS Model takes it more towards the Yucatan Peninsula and then into the Central Gulf of Mexico. It is changing run to run. The European model takes it to West Cuba and then towards the West Coast of Florida Peninsula between Tampa and Longboat Key. Invest 98-L has not developed and until it does, models will not do a good job. It is simply something to monitor. Weather here looks hot Thursday. Fall arrives Thursday night at 8:04 pm.
