MacBook Air 2022, iOS 16 unveiled at WWDC

Owners of iPhone got their first look Monday at the big changes coming to their smartphones this fall.

Apple is hosting its mostly virtual Worldwide Developers Conference this week, starting with a keynote addresses Monday during which they unveiled iOS 16 for the iPhone, as well as software updates for the Apple Watch, iPad and Mac computers.

The updates for iOS 16, iPadOS, WatchOS and macOS, codenamed Ventura, are available to developers first before launching as a public beta test this month. The system updates will launch more widely this fall.

Most notable for iPhone fans is the introduction of customizable lock screens capable of not only showing personalized clocks but widgets including weather, activity and other data. The time can also be displayed in the background to prevent hiding photos used for lock screens.
