China detects 15 new cases of coronavirus, including a local contagion
The National Health Commission of China reported today that the Asian country diagnosed 15 new cases of coronavirus yesterday, including a local contagion in the northeastern province of Liaoning. The other 14 remaining positives were detected in foreign travelers – known as “imported” cases – in Shanghai (east, 12) and in the provinces of Zhejiang (east, 1) and Guangzhou (southeast, 1). The total number of new cases announced today is the same as yesterday, while both Monday and Sunday were 23. The United States yesterday reached 18,197,351 cases and 322,285 deaths from coronavirus, according to the independent count from Johns Hopkins University. The specific provisions on the restrictions for travelers from both countries will be disclosed this Wednesday with a ministerial agreement, as stated yesterday by the Minister of Health, Amelia Flores, at a press conference. The official explained that the decision was made to restrict access to “incoming passengers from” England and South Africa, and “especially those who have been in these countries in the last 14 days or less.”
The coronavirus reaches Antarctica with an outbreak at a military base in Chile
Antarctica was until now the only continent that had remained free of coronavirus, but in the last hours it registered its first cases after 36 people tested positive at a military base in Chile. The Chilean Army reported in a statement that 26 soldiers and 10 civilians working as contractors at the Bernardo O’Higgins Riquelme (BAE) base tested positive on Sunday and are “isolated” in Punta Arenas, a city in southern Chile. Those infected are being “constantly monitored with the support of the health authority of the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic Region, achieving so far a favorable diagnosis and without any complications associated with Covid-19 by our staff”, added the institution.

The 68-year-old coach had been admitted to the Sirio Libanés hospital in Sao Paulo since December 14 to treat the consequences of a reinfection.
Argentina sends a plane to Russia to transport vaccines against Covid
A special Aerolineas Argentinas flight departed yesterday for Moscow to bring to the South American country a first batch of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine against Covid-19. The flight departed at 19:58 local time (22:58 GMT) from Ezeiza airport, outside Buenos Aires. The president of the airline, Pablo Ceriani, highlighted through the social network Twitter that this flight is taking place after a “hard work” by the Aerolineas Argentinas teams and the Argentine government delegation that traveled to Moscow two weeks ago. The Aerolineas Argentinas plane is expected to return to Buenos Aires next Thursday with some 600,000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine to be applied to 300,000 people.
Madrid closes until January 6 except to visit relatives and friends
The Community of Madrid will be closed from this Wednesday, December 23 to January 6 to prevent the spread of the coronavirus during the Christmas holidays, so the entries and exits of the region will be prohibited in this period except for exceptions, such as visiting relatives or relatives.
