In an update this week, the Direct Express company that provides the cards so that beneficiaries of programs such as those of the Social Security Administration receive their monthly benefits, he said that soon the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will send the third $ 1,400 stimulus check to this group.
“According to the IRS, updates on the timing of Economic Impact Payments for federal beneficiaries are expected soon. This includes information for Direct Express® cardholders who did not file a tax return in 2019 or 2020. Updates will be posted on IRS.gov as soon as possible ”, indicates content in a newsletter updated this Tuesday.
A day earlier, the IRS confirmed that recipients of government programs who do not file taxes will automatically receive the third stimulus check for $ 1,400 without additional paperwork, with most payments being processed by direct deposit.
“The IRS will automatically send the EIP3 to people who did not file a return but who receive Social Security Retirement, Survivor or Disability (SSDI) benefits, Railroad Retirement benefits, Supplemental Income Insurance (SSI), or Veterans Affairs benefits . This is similar to the first and second rounds of economic impact payments, often referred to as EIP1 and EIP2. Social Security and other federal beneficiaries will generally receive this third payment in the same way as their regular benefits, ”the IRS said in a press release Monday.
They will continue to receive benefits on time despite the arrival of the third stimulus check
The Direct Express entry further explains that the fees for using the cards will not change despite the arrival of the third stimulus check.
Additionally, the brochure specifies that each holder will be entitled to a free ATM withdrawal for the deposit of the third stimulus check.
“This is in addition to each free withdrawal for each paid deposit that the bearer receives,” specify the system administrators.
The fact sheet further explains that if the Economic Impact Payment is sent to an account that is closed or not active at the time of the transfer, the funds will be returned to the IRS for the agency to reissue the payment.
Those in charge of the Direct Express system clarified that the processing of the third stimulus check to the card will not delay the arrival of federal funds that the person receives regularly.
The Direct Express® card is a prepaid debit card that Americans use to receive federal benefits electronically without the need for a bank account. Using the card, users can access their money and pay directly with plastic money instead of using cash for purchases.
