Ómicron, the last variant of SARS-CoV-2 to be detected and the most mutated to date, is the focus of attention of health authorities, governments and the population worldwide.

It is worrisome that, because it is so different from the original version first identified in Wuhan, it is more contagious, lethal or mocks the effect of vaccines and treatments.
