The until now president of the entity and the club separate their paths after three years as leader of the project

The Sports Association Mérida SAD and the until now president of the entity Francisco Puertas Bautista separate their paths. Thus, Puertas has decided to end his stage as president of the club in the best possible way, after three years as leader of the project, achieving promotion to the First RFEF category this season.

From the entity they indicate that they only have words of gratitude for the one who has been the second president in the history of the Mérida SAD Sports Association.

Puertas came to the club as a shareholder in the 2018/19 season, coordinating the club’s sports area, in which the team was promoted to Second Division B. It was in the following 2019/20 season, when in July 2019 he took the reins of the club as the sole shareholder and president of the entity in Second Division B, where despite all the difficulties, due to a global pandemic that led to the economic crisis, he managed to provide stability and grow the club in all areas.

The club repeats its gratitude to the president Francisco Puertas until now for everything the club has done in these three seasons, making it grow in all areas, professionalizing it, and giving the entity greater solidity and better structure and infrastructure. The club wishes both Puertas and his family the best of luck for the future, both personally and professionally, letting them know that they will always have their home at this club.

Words of Doors

For his part, Francisco Puertas wanted to leave a message for the Roman fans. «Being the president of the AD Mérida in these last three years has been an honor, a privilege and a pride, both for me and for my family. Despite all the difficulties we have had to deal with these years ago, I am leaving with a very clear conscience of having worked hard for the club and of having helped it grow and advance both in the sporting and corporate spheres. Seriousness, hard work, discretion and professionalism have been the premises of my management, and I am sure they will continue to be so in the future».

“My greatest thanks to each and every one of the workers and professionals of the club, for their trust, for their unconditional help, and for sweating the shirt every day in these three difficult years, without you the club would not be what it is today, nor would it be where it is today. Many thanks to all the Roman fans for your support, and for your passion for colors. You are a demanding and knowledgeable fan base, and you know very well how to differentiate between heroes and villains », thanks Puertas, who also wishes « the greatest sporting and corporate successes to Mark Heffernan, his fate will be ours. I am sure that he will take the club to greater heights, and from here I want to give him my full support. Thank you very much for these unforgettable years. Always Roman.

In the coming weeks, the club will provide more information on the composition of the new board of directors.
