Be careful what you eat before they hit you
Former WWE wrestler Paul “Big Show” Wight learned the hard way about the dangers of eating the wrong thing on the road.
Wight, now signed to AEW under his real name, was a guest at the Oral sessions podcast with Renee Paquette (known during her time in WWE as Renee Young) and told the story of the time she fought Brock Lesnar in South Africa and got her trunks dirty after taking Lesnar’s F5 finishing move.
“In Cape Town, I ate bad food,” Wight said. “And this is when I had the leather pants. I hit that rug, and now it’s covering me. He says, ‘Did you …?’ I said yes’. He says, “Ha ha ha ha ha shit!”
“And then while I’m laying in the ring, after F5, he keeps stepping on my stomach, like he’s trying to get more out. So, he had also left Paul Heyman in the ring. That was the end, and then I would usually get up, come to myself, take Paul out and throw Paul over my shoulder, and take Paul out. That was the end of the night for heels, we were totally humiliated.
“Tonight, I was humiliated. So Paulie is laying there and he says, ‘Will you take me to the back?’ I say no’. ‘What do you mean you’re not going to take me to the back?’ I am myself. I can not hear you. What?’ ‘I f — my pants!’ ‘Oh … okay … are you okay?’ “
Wight ended up having to take off his leather pants with a hose in the back of the arena.
Heyman confirmed the story, but noted that this is not the only time he has been the victim of an olfactory assault by Wight. Heyman claims that 18 years ago in Alaska, Wight let out a “three-minute fart” that was apparently egregious enough to be remembered nearly two decades later.
Wight’s story in Cape Town is remarkably similar to one of “Stone Cold” that Steve Austin recounted a couple of years ago. During a 2019 appearance on the YouTube series. The hot ones, Austin revealed that dirtied their trunks during a match against the late Yokozuna, also in South Africa.
What are the odds? Whenever WWE can travel the world again, wrestlers have to compare notes with Austin and Wight to figure out which South African restaurants to avoid.
