Plans in Extremadura: Pantomime Full and the birds from Cáceres complete a leisure agenda starring San Isidro


The weekend is presented in summery Extremadura and full of refreshing leisure initiatives. During these days, the region will be dotted with plans for all tastes and ages. Theater, concerts, dance, gastronomy and lots of laughter will complete an agenda starring San Isidro, since the pilgrimages in his honor will be held throughout the Extremaduran community.

In addition to this traditional and popular event, Pantomima Full will perform in Badajoz, the comedy duo formed by Rober Bodegas and Alberto Casado who will fill López de Ayala with laughter. Bird and nature lovers will be concentrated in Cáceres, since these days host its XII Bird Festival. Mérida, for its part, will have a very tasty weekend as it will celebrate Callejeando Food Fest, an appointment with ‘food trucks’; while in Plasencia the star proposal is ‘The Ages of Man’, since this is the first weekend in which the public will be able to enjoy this exhibition.

The Cultural Area room of the English Court offers a family workshop on ‘scrapbooking’ taught by Vanesa Fraile Velardo, from Lilium Arts, for boys and girls from 6 years old. In it they will learn about ‘scrapbooking’ and its possibilities while designing and creating their own mini photo album. The activity will be held Friday at 6:00 p.m.

This Friday continues the 13th cycle of ‘Flamenco in the Plaza Alta’ in Badajoz. On this occasion the spectators will be able to enjoy the show ‘Pequeña Algaravía’, in which the bailaora Carmen la Parreña will perform accompanied by Paulo Molina and Ismael Solomando on cante, Antonio Santiago on guitar and Morito Suero on percussion. The performance has been delayed to 9:00 p.m. due to the heat.

Without leaving the musical chapter, this Friday the last concert of the XIII Cycle of Current Music will be held by the saxophone quartet Kebyart Ensemble. The show will be at the MEIAC at 8:30 p.m. In the repertoire they include the absolute premiere of a work by the Extremaduran composer Natalia G. Iglesias, commissioned by the National Center for Musical Diffusion (CNDM).

The city celebrates this weekend the XII City of Cáceres Bird Festival, which returns after the cancellation of its last two editions due to the pandemic. It will take place from Friday to Sunday and there will be no shortage of technical conferences, the photographic marathon or the guided ornithological routes.

The Grand Theater hosts several shows. On Friday comes ‘What we owe ourselves’, from the company Cómicas Crónicos Producciones. In this proposal, which starts at 8:30 p.m., five thirtysomethings meet again at the funeral of their school teacher, a nostalgic and key figure in their lives. What they end up doing there is confronting what they were and what they thought they would one day become. The function thus becomes a tribute to the important work of primary school teachers and how their teachings mark people’s lives.

A day later, on Saturday, this space will be filled with the music of Second, who will present their new album ‘Flores Imposibles’. The concert starts at 8:30 p.m. The music will continue the next day at the Gran Teatro with the Cáceres Provincial Council Symphony Band, which presents Pop with the family, within the Educa Symphony cycle. It is a new live music show to enjoy with the family with the best of eighties and nineties pop. The performance will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Gastronomy with a lot of rhythm

Gastronomy, sports and rock will fill the leisure agenda of Mérida this weekend. From Friday to Sunday, the Callejeando Food Fest Mérida 2022 festival is held in the Parque de la Argentina, a gastronomic and recreational event dedicated to quality street food and leisure in which a dozen food trucks from all over Spain will offer the visitor a wide variety of products and recipes. Throughout the weekend a series of activities aimed at all audiences will be scheduled, such as musical performances, exhibitions, workshops and classes, children’s actions, etc. The schedules will be Friday, from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m., Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., uninterrupted.

The play ‘Madrecita del alma querida’ will be performed in the Sala Trajano. The appointment will be this Friday at 8:30 p.m.

Next Saturday, the Los Milagros aqueduct will host a new edition of the ‘Music Run’ whose circuit will consist of a totally urban 7-kilometre route, which will pass through some of the city’s main monuments, starting and finishing at the aqueduct of The miracles.

The festival will be opened by Fuckings Covers with a tribute to 80’s rock; followed by En Guardia, with a tribute to La Guardia; Rock The Night, with a tribute to Europe; Rosie in Hell, with a female tribute to AC/DC; Cadillac Solitario, with a tribute to Loquillo; closing the Fitomanía event, with a tribute to Fito.

Don Benito will once again hold his usual spring concert and will do so on May 14 with a performance by Ana Mena. The singer from Malaga will perform at the ‘Alcalde Mariano Gallego’ multipurpose bullring.

The Extremadura Orchestra says goodbye to its season in Villanueva with ‘Exceptional in the face of adversity’. It will be this Friday at 8:00 p.m. at the Palacio de Congresos. The concert will be directed by Marzena Diakun and tickets are priced at 8 euros.

Valdivia, a minor entity of Villanueva de la Serena, will host the first edition of the Ciruelas Music Festival on Friday, in which artists of national relevance such as Sergio Contreras, Nyno Vargas, Moncho Chavea and Original Elias will participate. In addition, the opening act will be the Extremaduran Kike Luna and the DJs Alex Pinto and Joel Durán.

Herrera del Duque hosts these days its XII Livestock and Agrotourism Fair of La Siberia. An exhibition that, under the title of Transitus, collects for the first time pieces of sacred art from Extremadura in the cathedral of Plasencia, transformed to be released as a large exhibition space.
