Julissia Batties has not yet been able to rest in peace, more than a month after being beaten to death allegedly by her teenage half-brother, protected by her mother.

The body of the 7 year old girl Deceased in the NYCHA Mitchel Houses complex on Alexander Avenue (The Bronx), On the morning of August 10, he is still in the city morgue as his estranged parents argue about the funeral arrangements.l, reported New York Post.

The girl was part of a heated custody battle for most of her life and the fight continues: her mother wants her cremated and her father hopes she can be buried.

The mother, Navasia Jones, who had just regained custody of Julissia when she died, filed a petition Friday with a judge to grant her control over the funeral arrangements and the “disposition” of the girl’s body. She wants her daughter cremated so she “always has something to remember [a Julissia]”Reads the filing in the Bronx Supreme Court.

But father Julius Batties – whose mother Yolanda Davis was in charge of the girl on several occasions and tried in vain for years to obtain her permanent custody – wants Julissia be buried in the same New Jersey cemetery with her paternal grandfather.

Apparently Jones will win the victory, as the other relatives look already resigned. “I am ready to rest my baby so he can be at peace,” Batties told reporters Tuesday. Davis agreed: “I just want him to rest. I never knew we would have to fight for her body, ”added the anguished grandmother. “I thought we would bury the baby and that’s it.”

Little Julissia was found with head and body injuries inside his NYCHA apartment on the morning of August 10. Jones called 911 and first informed the NYPD that her daughter had fallen and injured her head against a desk around 5 a.m. But his 17-year-old teenage son later admitted that he had hit his sister eight times in the face when her mother left early that morning. Supposedly he was upset that the girl kept going to the kitchen to get sandwiches. She was rushed to Lincoln Hospital, but could not be saved.

A coroner’s report revealed that Julissia died of trauma to the abdomen, and also confirmed new and old injuries to the face and arm. The case was declared homicide, but no one has been detained. The 35-year-old mother, who suffers from bipolar disorder, has eight previous arrests, including two per threat, sources said. In that house he lived with his three children: the teenager who would have confessed the abuse, a 3-year-old baby and the deceased girl.

The police had been called to that house six times in two years on suspicions of abuse and Jones had barely regained custody of the girl in June, in what would be a new case of serious negligence of Administration for Children’s Services (ACS). Even a week before death, the mother prevented the girl from being intervieweda police source told Pix11.

At least two other children have died in recent days in NYC, victims of abuse in their homes. If you are a victim or suspect that someone is being abused, especially if they are a minor or elderly:
