The President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, announced yesterday that to the 100 million euros planned in investment for the Vega Baja will be added another 54 in items to reinforce emergency works by DANA and in the improvement of treatment plants in the region for the reuse of water. Puig transferred it to the commissioners of the Vega Renhace Plan, Jorge Olcina and Antonio Alonso, with whom he met in Valencia to continue working on the lines of this project “and reiterate the commitment of the Generalitat Valenciana to the region.”
The accounts of the regional administration for 2021 include a specific item of 100 million euros to reactivate the region. Is about cross-cutting projects and initiatives of all the ministries that may run during the next year. To this money, we must add the rest of the actions planned by the Generalitat within other items of next year’s budgets, a total of 10 budget lines totaling 54 million euros. So the joint investment of the Consell next year in the Vega Baja exceeds 154 million euros, the largest in history. “It is the most important investment in history in a budget period, because the Generalitat’s commitment is that the damages caused by DANA become an opportunity for the future for the region,” the president of the Generalitat said yesterday. Some budgets that have been controversial for including games from Vega Renhace that have nothing to do with this plan.
Regarding the budget lines amounting to 54 million, it is worth highlighting the investment for the better use of water resources, with 34 million, as well as the works that will be carried out by the Department of Agriculture for emergencies by DANA, for an amount of 11,395,000 euros, or the additional 8 million that the budgets will be dedicated to public infrastructures of the Vega Renhace Plan. In housing, the Consell plans to allocate 2.5 million to promote their resilience and promote accessibility and energy efficiency. The 200,000 euros that will be allocated to the Tourist Promotion of the Vega Baja and the 50,000 for the Orihuela Digital District.
Puig stressed that Vega Renhace “is a short, medium and long-term plan and, therefore, it must be well articulated and properly promoted”, and thanked “the work of the two commissioners as well as the cooperation with the mayors with the whole of civil society ». The meeting was also attended by the general director of Analysis and Public Policies, Ana Berenguer, and the territorial director of the Presidency in Alicante, Antonia Moreno. On the other hand, Puig announced that on December 1 the Vega Renhace Plan Office will begin to function in the region to articulate and “adequate” follow-up on “the projects that, after a participatory process, have been configured.”
