Real Madrid vs Juventus live score, updates, highlights & lineups from preseason friendly

European champions Real Madrid will meet Italian giants Juventus in a classic European showdown that will be played in front of a sellout crowd at the Rose Bowl. More than 90,000 fans are expected to witness the preseason match.

It’s an important one for Real Madrid, given it represents the final preseason test before things get serious beginning with the UEFA Super Cup on Aug. 10 against Europa League holders Eintracht Frankfurt. That will be the first trophy up for grabs in a 2022-23 season that will have Los Merengues occupied across a number of competitive fronts as the defending Spanish and European champs.

Saturday’s showdown also represents the end of Juventus’ U.S. summer tour. They beat Chivas Guadalajara 2-0 and tied Barcelona 2-2. The Bianconeri will be tuning up against a third Spanish opponent, Atletico Madrid, before opening the Italian Serie A season against Sassuolo on Aug. 15.

Real Madrid lost its U.S. tour match against Barcelona 1-0 and then tied Mexican power Club America 2-2. Karim Benzema scored in his first appearance in the latter match, and Eden Hazard found the back of the net via penalty.

Real Madrid vs. Juventus lineups

Reports from Spain indicate that Dani Carvajal has recovered from an ankle injury and is ready to see minutes at right back against Juventus, though it’s unclear whether it will be as a starter or off the bench. Lucas Vazquez would be the other right back in the mix though Vinicius Tobias would love another crack after looking shaky against Club America.

The only other lineup questions are focused on the right wing position (Federico Valverde, Marco Asensio and Rodrygo continue to battle it out), and whether one of the younger options can break into the Modric-Casemiro-Kroos veteran midfield trio that continues to have the faith of head coach Carlo Ancelotti.
