Russia bans Czech Republic from donating Soviet-made weapons

Russia has sent a letter to Czech Republic in which he maintains that the Central European country cannot provide Soviet-made military technology to third countries without Moscow’s permission, something that Prague has rejected as “nonsense”.

This was reported this Saturday by the Czech Foreign Minister, Jan Lipavsky, who interprets the Kremlin’s diplomatic note as an attempt to prevent the Czech Republic from helping Ukraine.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not reacted to this note and will not do so because it is a without sensesince there is no article on the re-export of this material,” said the head of Czech diplomacy, quoted by Radio Prague.

“Russia uses lies to demand the end of our support for ukraine“, he stresses.

The minister believes that Moscow resorts to threatsextortion and disinformation in their attempts to prevent Western countries from helping Ukraine defend itself against Russian aggression.

“In this case (…) it is just another ridiculous and brazen attempt,” he concludes.

The Czech Republic has sent to Ukraine by train dozens of T-72 tanks and BVP armored combat vehicles, as reported on the 5th by the digital newspaper Echo24.

“Delivery of Czech BVP vehicles and T-72 tanks. I trust that these shipments can continue,” the Christian Democrat politician from the government coalition, Ondrej Benesik, confirmed to the Czech newspaper.

Although there is no official confirmation from the Czech Ministry of Defense about thes arms deliveries to Ukrainein the press it is said that the country has donated home-made tanks and infantry fighting vehicles to kyiv, some of which are on their way.

The diplomatic letter to Prague joins others previously sent by Russia to various Western countries warning of “unforeseen consequences” if they continue to deliver weapons to Ukraine.
