Samsung has presented its new storage memories for smartphones, with UFS 4.0 technology and that promise a substantial improvement. We tell you all the details.
Samsung has just introduce the new iteration of your storage memories for smartphones with the release of UFS 4.0, which will soon be available on future devices.
The Korean company is undoubtedly the benchmark in terms of storage memories in the global market for mobile devices, since the vast majority of them use these incredible memories.
Until today, those memories of the smartphones that we use have UFS 3.1 technology, since Mass production will start this summer of this new iteration of its memories, so that those devices that are launched at the end of the year can already have them.
UFS (Universal Flash Storage) is the storage memory standard that they use smartphonesand that you can also see in other consumer electronics devices such as digital cameras or tablets.
BREAKING: Samsung has developed the industry’s highest performing Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 4.0 storage solution, which has received JEDEC® board of director approval. What is UFS 4.0 and what does it mean for the future of storage? Read on to learn more. pic.twitter.com/4Wxdu0J2PD

This new 4.0 standard comes with great improvements, Especially when it comes to transfer speed.in addition to better management of their efficiency, drastically reducing their energy consumption.
UFS 1.0 | SFU 1.1 | UFS 2.0 | UFS 2.1 | UFS 3.0 | UFS 3.1 | UFS 4.0 | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
PRESENTATION | February 2011 | June 2012 | August 2013 | April 2016 | January 2018 | January 2020 | May 2022 |
READ SPEED | 300MB/s | 300MB/s | 480MB/s | 850MB/s | 2,100MB/s | 2,100MB/s | 4,200MB/s |
WRITE SPEED | 170MB/s | 170MB/s | 170MB/s | 260MB/s | 410MB/s | 1,200MB/s | 2,800MB/s |
As we can see in the table above, read and write speed compared to the latest standard, 3.1, is doubled, literally. This offers us enviable speeds, and that are increasingly closer to those found in SSD hard drives for computers.
This new UFS 4.0 storage also will reduce energy consumption by 46% in terms of data reading, also compared to the 3.1 standard. This will help our operating system a lot when it comes to constantly reading changes in it.
With this new standard, those devices that use 5G for large file downloads or that run applications that require high data transfer will be potentially improvedallowing a much more satisfying experience.
This new storage can be found up to 1 TBmore than enough for today’s phones, and which is expected to occur from summer, and at the latest, and predictably, we will see it at the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S23 early next year.
We will be aware of the possible release date and the smartphones that will come with it, which will be all high-end and premium smartphones, and we will tell you everything here at ComputerHoy.
