Samsung Galaxy A33 5G and Galaxy A53 5G: specifications, availability and prices

The South Korean company has announced the renewal of its Galaxy A range and will arrive in Spain with two very balanced models with characteristics such as IP67 resistance and a line of very striking colors in its range.

Last year we saw how the Galaxy A32, A52 and A72 line in its different variants with and without 5G were mobiles that we liked a lot in the analyzes we did and that, if we found any drawbacks, they were perhaps somewhat higher in price than the competition direct.

This year we see a big leap in terms of hardware with these new Galaxy A33 5G and A53 5G models that share processor and practically dimensions.

The main difference lies in the completely matte finish of the A33 range, the camera system and the screen and selfie camera.

In both models we are talking about FullHD+ AMOLED panelsalthough in the Galaxy A53 model we go to a larger 6.5″ panel with 120 Hz refreshment and the front camera integrated in it, while in the Galaxy A33 5G model 6.4″ 90 Hz and front camera in tear format.

Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, the mobile for selfie lovers

The most advanced model of these two new models is the Galaxy A53 5G and it is certainly for few details. In fact, it is physically difficult to differentiate them since the physical measurements are almost the same.

This model has a hole in the upper center of the screen in which the camera is integrated. 32 MP f / 2.2 for selfies. And the lower part is very close to the metallic frame with a gloss finish that runs along the entire side of the mobile and serves as a base to fit both the back and the part of the screen.

That metal frame is also a difference and it is that in the A33 5G model it is matte. The rear is practically the same in both. They are available in white, black, blue and peach.

The screen of this model is 6.5-inch 120Hz AMOLED with FullHD + resolution and in our first impression it seemed very responsive in terms of automatic brightness adjustment.

The great improvement of these models is the integration of the SoC samsung exynos 1280 manufactured in 5nm and with two A78 cores at 2.4GHz and 6 A55 cores at 2GHz. The GPU is a quad-core Mali G68.

The rear camera configuration is very similar to the configuration of the A52 adding optical stabilization to the main sensor of 64MP f/1.8 along with a 12 Mpx f/2.2 wide angle, a 5 Mpx f/2.4 macro sensor and a 5 Mpx f/2.4 auxiliary sensor. As we can see, it is a very complete configuration.

In addition, the integrated software has portrait mode support and a Fun mode with which we can apply various effects. All cameras can record at a maximum resolution of up to 4K and 30fps.

The integrated software is OneUI 4.1 which works on android 12 and has Knox security features and on-screen multitasking application support.

Samsung has taken an interesting step by expanding the internal capacity of the battery, reaching 5,000mAh and has support fast charge 25Walthough it should be mentioned that there is no charger in the box.

One of the concessions that Samsung has had to make in this model compared to the previous model is the elimination of the minijack connector.

As a bonus, Samsung promises 4 updates to new generations of Android and 5 years of security updates.

Samsung Galaxy A33 5G, exquisite design for its range

This is the more modest model of the two, although not in performance since they share the same Exynos 1280 SoC that we are looking forward to being able to squeeze and test thoroughly.

This model mounts a 6.4 inch screen, slightly smaller than the Galaxy A55 5G. Although they share resolve and AMOLED technologyalthough this model has a 90Hz refresh rate.

It shares dimensions and almost weight with the A53 model and that is why this model has a little chin under screen.

The design of this model sports a very striking matte frame that gives a sense of continuity between the rear and that side. And in principle, at first glance, I liked it more than the gloss finish of that frame of the A53 5G model.

The front camera is built into a drop design on top and it is a 12 Mpx f/2.2 sensor. It is a design that seems old in 2022, but it is functional.

Another difference is that the dualSIM or nanoSIM + microSD tray is that it is integrated in the upper part instead of in the lower part, which is where it is integrated in the Galaxy A53 model.

Let’s see the point where there is more difference compared to his older brother and it is none other than the camera where we see how the main camera is 48 Mpx f / 1.8 with optical stabilizationpromising on the table.

The wide angle drops to 8 Mpx f / 2.2 and mounts a 2 Mpx f / 2.4 macro camera and an auxiliary 2Mpx f / 2.4 camera.

As an extra point, even this mobile can record 4K 30fps video from the front and rear cameras.

This model also integrates 5,000mAh battery and support of 25W fast charge But it doesn’t come with a charger in the box either.

Availability and prices

These mobiles will be available in April, and will reach the Spanish market in various configurations. Although the colors are white, black, blue and peach in both models. The Galaxy A53 5G will be available in a higher RAM configuration than the Galaxy A33 5G.

Available configurations of the new Galaxy A:

• Galaxy A33 5G: 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 256 GB, both from April 1.
• Galaxy A53 5G: 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 256 GB, both from April 22.

As we can see, we are dealing with mobiles that reach the mid/premium range by specifications and we are waiting for the prices at which they will reach the Spanish market.
