San Vicente, the great “forgotten” of the Convivint and Edificant plans

San Vicente del Raspeig adds one new line of aid that does not land in the municipality. The city has been relegated during the last two years from the investments of the Consell in the general budgets. The Edificant Plan for the construction and improvement of educational infrastructures has barely left a testimonial work. And now San Vicente is not part of the list of municipalities throughout the Community that are going to receive financial aid, either to reform or to build buildings in social matters within the Social Infrastructure Plan 2021-2025. And from which other municipalities in the region such as Sant Joan d’Alacant or Xixona benefit.

From the municipal group of Citizens (Cs) they regret that the Valencian Government (PSOE, Compromís and Podemos) has not included San Vicente del Raspeig in the Social Infrastructure Plan, which is endowed with 561 million and that foresees the reform or start-up of 247 social health centers. The Convivint Plan (2021-2025) plans to create 6,600 new public places in residences and day centers for the elderly, with functional diversity or with mental illness.

Citizens’ spokesperson, Pachi Pascual, explained that “once again, the Valencian tripartite forgets San Vicente: now it is the Plan Convivint; a few months ago, the Generalitat’s budgets for 2021, where investments for our municipality were not included; and previously the Edificant Plan, where we see how the months continue to pass and none of the promised educational infrastructures is put into operation “, reproaches Pascual.

Not being part of the Convivint Plan means that no day center or socio-sanitary residence is going to be built or renovated in San Vicente to care for dependent elderly people, with functional diversity, with mental illness, for children and adolescents or for the care of victims of gender violence.

From the opposition, this fact supposes a clear “no one over and over again” on the part of the Valencian Government, to the seventh municipality of the province.

The orange formation points to the mayor Jesús Villar and regrets that “he does not raise his voice and vindicate the investments that San Vicente needs before the president of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, although, yes, he does not hesitate to put himself at the forefront of the banner when he tries to vindicate other administrations where his party does not govern, ”declares Pascual.

Regarding educational infrastructures, the expected investments of the Consell’s educational infrastructures plan have not taken place in the last four years. The spokesperson for Compromís in San Vicente, Ramon Leyda, assures that there is a will from the Ministry of Education, managed by its political background, and points to the City Council as the administration that is blocking the development of this plan. «The will of the Department of Education and the City Council is to work in coordination and cooperate to improve Education in terms of infrastructures, but we consider that, after four years of implementation of the Edificant Plan, the pace of execution of the works is being too slow with at least four of these actions blocked by the Sant Vicent City Council », warns Leyda.

Of the planned work, only a small reform has been carried out in the Official Language Schools, at the IES Haygón. While construction of gyms, dining rooms, adjoining classrooms, workshops, electrical installations and heating is pending in CEIP Raspeig, Bec de l’Àguila, l’Horta and CIPFP Canastell.

The construction of a new Institute of Secondary Education in the town has also been projected and is awaiting approval from the Ministry to undertake reforms and improvements in the Victoria Kent and Jaume I. CEIPs.
