The president of the Government, Pedro Sanchez, has advanced this Friday that in the coming months a new Law on Vocational Training (FP) that will unify the actions of the educational system with training for employment in order to strengthen dual training.

Sánchez has participated in the presentation of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Spanish Economy, “Spain can”, together with the President of the Government of La Rioja, Concha Andreu, in the Würth Museum, located in the Riojan town of Agoncillo.

He explained that the new FP Law will be processed after approval of the new educational law, the Lomloe, and will allow “consolidating the modernizing leap promoted together with companies and social agents.”

The objective, he specified, is that professional education is the basis for the transformation, recovery and employability of hundreds of thousands of young people.

To do this, he said that reinforce dual training and skills acquired during work experience, so that long-term training allows improving the quality of employment, the competitiveness of companies and the economic development of the country.

This “firm commitment to VET” will be consolidated in the next three years, with the “ambitious” objective of creating 200,000 new places, updating existing degrees and establishing new degrees linked to emerging sectors, such as robotics, “big data” and smart industry, has announced.

In addition, it is planned to deploy a plan to accredit the basic professional competencies of more than 3 million workers who abandoned their studies, acquired their work experience, but lack a certificate attesting that they have these competencies.

The future of new jobs is through have a “cutting edge” FP in Spain, has assured Sánchez, for which he has defended public-private collaboration with businessmen.

The promotion of European funds in this area will be essential for the development of initiatives such as support for public centers at risk of “digital disconnection”, the reinforcement of university connectivity and the provision of more than 2,000 million euros in scholarships, which has highlighted that it will be “the largest in the history of Spain.”

To achieve these objectives, he pointed out that the approval of the appropriate budgets for the economic and social situation of the country is needed, after two years of parliamentary “blockade”.

“We are concerned with the recovery of our country after a terrible pandemic, and not the simple political tinkering. We are concerned with the possibility of taking advantage of a historical opportunity and not the rhythm of the sterile and accidental debate that on many occasions characterizes Spanish politics”, has stressed.
