Savannah’s Plant Riverside kicks off St Patrick’s a day early


St Patrick’s Day is Thursday, but the celebration at Plant Riverside has already begun. The second annual Shamrock and Shenanigan’s at Plant Riverside kicked of the party a day early. Turning the area green, including their smokestacks. “Old times have returned. Which is great. People having a good time. Smiling, drinking some good beers and eating some good sausages,” Richard Kessler said.Before the CEO of the Kessler’s Collection, Richard Kessler, flipped the switch turning Plant Riverside green, people filled the area kicking off their St Patrick’s Day early.“It means the whole world celebrates on St Patty’s day. Even if you’re not Irish…You celebrate with everybody,” said sisters Patty and Maureen.Including some firefighters who traveled from New York to be in the parade.”We’re just checking out the bars. And the bars and the restaurants and see what savannah’s all about,” Jonathan Haber said.“We got about 30 guys. Thirty-five guys. All from the same firehouse in the Bronx,” Brian Boldi said.While people enjoy the fun of Shamrocks and Shenanigans, Plant Riverside has the goal of making it fun for everyone.“What I could tell you is that we are definitely going in with the city’s, the city’s new movement of making it more family traditional,” said Tyler Gray, the director of training and programming. Over the five day celebration, they will have live music, mini golf and of course all the Irish traditions.
