After selling out his 36-date El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo arena tour in record time, and before even playing a single show on that tour, which begins February 9, Bad Bunny announces an ambitious 29-date stadium tour. by 2022.
Promoted by Live Nation and CMN, Bad Bunny: World’s Hottest Tour kicks off August 5 at Orlando’s Campus Stadium and will make 15 stops across the US, including New York’s Yankee Stadium, Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium and the Boston’s Fenway Park.
That’s very good news for the thousands of fans who couldn’t get tickets for The Last World Tour, which sold out in days. The World’s Hottest Tour also comes with a bonus: In the US, Bunny will feature DJ Alesso as a guest on 11 dates and Diplo as a guest on two dates, including the final show at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium on June 30. September.
The tour then continues to Latin America for 14 stops in October, including the Vélez Stadium in Buenos Aires and the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
Tickets go on advance sale on Wednesday (January 26) at 12pm via worldshottesttour.com, and go on sale to the general public on Friday, January 28, also at 12pm.
The tour announcement was very quickly followed by the announcement of a new album, which Bad Bunny made via a video on Instagram reels.
Bad Bunny’s tour may be the most ambitious for a Latin artist in the US But then again, the Puerto Rican star has been on a record breaking streak for the last three years. Bunny (real name Benito Martínez Ocasio) was the best-selling Latin artist of 2021 for the third year in a row, according to MRC data, and the most-streamed artist globally on Spotify for the second year in a row. He is also the first artist to place an all-Spanish album at number 1 on the Billboard 200.
On the live front, in 2021 Bunny sold 480,000 tickets and grossed $84 million in a single day when his El Último Tour del Mundo 2022 tour went on sale. It became Ticketmaster’s best-selling tour for the first day since the tour. On the Run II by Beyoncé and Jay-Z in 2018.
In December 2021, Bunny played back-to-back shows at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in Puerto Rico, staging a festival-like performance that included multiple stages and settings. Whether this will serve as a template for Bunny’s upcoming stadium tour remains to be seen.
