The Community of Madrid will close as of next Monday six new basic zones and three municipalities due to the sustained increase in cases in recent days. In this way, the areas of The daisies (Getafe), San fernando (San Fernando de Henares); Alameda de Osuna (Barajas), Bars (San Blas-Canillejas) and Chopera (Arganzuela), in Madrid; and of Villaviciosa de Odón, as well as the localities of The Cabrera, Moralzarzal and Colmenarejo They will enter into mobility restrictions, as announced by the Director of Public Health, Elena Andradas, at the weekly press conference to update the epidemiological evolution in the region.
Likewise, the restrictions remain until Monday, April 12 in the basic areas of Valle de la Oliva (Majadahonda); in Madrid capital in the areas of Nunez Morgado (Chamartín), Virgin of Begoña (Fuencarral-El Pardo), Vicálvaro-Artilleros and Valdebernardo (Vicálvaro); and in the localities of Navacerrada, Paracuellos de Jarama, Villanueva de la Cañada, Navas del Rey, Saints of the Smoky, Torrejón de Velasco and Chapineria.
Overall, a total of 11 basic areas and 10 localities will be perimeter, which means that almost 324,000 citizens will be under mobility restrictions. These population centers represent 4.9% of the total in the region, concentrating 7.4 of the new cases in the last two weeks.
Regarding the threshold for the so-called “surgical confinements”, the General Directorate of Public Health maintains the criteria in 350 cases per 100,000 inhabitants at 14 days, increasing trend and community transmission. The prohibition of meetings of non-cohabitants in homes is also maintained, except in the case of care for third parties (elderly, dependents, minors or vulnerable people). In this sense, the Ministry of Health recalls that 80% of infections occur in the family and home. The curfew remains fixed between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Regarding the epidemiological situation in Madrid, the counselor of the branch explained that there is a “slight” trend in the increase of new cases in the region, something that is being repeated in the rest of the communities. “There is a slight upward trend, the cumulative incidence stands at 271 cases per 100,000 inhabitants at 14 days, although at the care level no significant increase is detected,” Ruiz Escudero detailed. In this regard, the data reflects that there are 2,074 admitted by Covid in hospitals, of which 1,657 are in the ward and 414 in ICUs, figures “similar to those of last week.”
The counselor has valued that 5.6% of the Madrid population has completed the vaccination and that it is being inoculated without rest in the region, although “what is missing are vaccines”, as they have been claiming for weeks. In addition, Ruiz Escudero has insisted that “we must continue to be very cautious and take care of hygiene and safety measures.” In this sense, he recalled that in the Community of Madrid “it was already mandatory” the mask on public roads regardless of the interpersonal distance since last July 30, despite the fact that the Ministry of Health has recently approved this type of use.
