Sony has been manufacturing projectors for 50 years, and celebrates it by renewing its high-end 4K projectors with two new references that integrate the brand’s latest technologies.

The Japanese brand has a wide catalog of projectors in which, during the last years, it has been specializing in the high-end projectors and professional quality for home cinema.

The renewal of its high range has just been announced with the arrival of the VPL-XW7000ES models and the VPL-XW5000EStwo new home theater projectors with laser lamp technology that provides brighter, more vivid images.

The new models incorporate the Sony X1 Ultimate Processor with which the processing of the image in 4K and the adjustment of more realistic colors are improved.

One of the most important novelties of the new projectors is the incorporation of 0.61” native 4K SXRD panels that are combined with a system of more compact and efficient optics with which it is achieved improve color rendering and adjust focus more precisely.

The larger native 4K SXRD panels They allow to transfer sharper images and with greater volume of color thanks to the increase in the reflectance of light.

This allows the XW7000 delivers a brightness of 3,200 lumens, approximately 1.6 times brighter than the current VW790, resulting in a brightness of 200 nits on a 150” projection screen. The XW5000 delivers a brightness of 2,000 lumensbeing 30% more efficient in energy consumption per lumen than the aforementioned VW790.

For his part, the aspheric optics system with floating focus system allows the focus area to be wider, also extending to the extremes of the image to give greater sharpness to the whole. Something essential to achieve a good visual experience with 4K content even in bright rooms.

One of the novelties is the incorporation of the X1 Ultimate processor in its variant for projectors with which Sony uses what it has learned in the image processing of its televisions and now applies it to its line of projectors.

The X1 will handle 4K upscaling managementas well as the calibration of the colors to adapt them to the TRILUMINOS Pro technology using analysis techniques such as contrast enhancer, dynamic HDR enhancer or the remastering of object-based HDR that Sony has been successfully using for several generations on its Bravia televisions.

The Sony’s new 4K laser projectors cover 95% of the DCI-P3 color space and incorporate functions that more and more users demand such as support for IMAX content with a new color profile or use as a large format screen for games, getting lower the input latency up to 13 ms on 2K sources at 120 Hz.
