Sony responds to Xbox Game Pass with PlayStation Plus and the arrival of 700 streaming games

Sony’s move to get attention in its services for consoles is to launch PlayStation Plus and manage to combine 700 games under the same catalog.

Sony has decided to stand up to Microsoft’s game offer with its Game Pass and it does so with PlayStation Plus. This new service integrates both PS Now and the homonymous service from which it is named. The novelties that come with this movement by Sony are many, but we anticipate that the best will be the games.

And, it is that, PlayStation has not been short or lazy with the arrival of PlayStation Plus and now it will integrate more than 700 games. Yes, a pretty amazing amount for a service that, with enough quotes, is new. It may be that the good performance of Game Pass on Microsoft consoles has made this movement go ahead.

Of course, the news does not come only in the number of games within the platform. TOtime PlayStation will offer different payment methods so that each user finds the subscription that best suits them. The truth is that it is nothing new in itself, but it is for PlayStation.

The new subscription modalities start with PlayStation Plus Essential. This service is actually the same PlayStation Plus seen so far. What is allowed are two downloadable games per month, exclusive discounts, save games in the cloud, online multiplayer and with the same prices as the current ones.

Taking a leap is PlayStation Plus Extra which comes with improvements to the Essential version. Among the improvements is having 400 games from the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 catalog that will be available for download without any type of limitation. Among these games will be both from PlayStation studios and third parties.

At the price level, the situation would be as follows: 14.99 euros per month, 39.99 euros three-month subscription and 99.99 euros in the annual subscription. The difference is noticeable if we compare the prices with PlayStation Plus Essential that stays at 8.99 euros per month, 24.99 euros in the three-month subscription and 59.99 euros in the annual subscription.

Closing in style is the latest proposal: PlayStation Plus Premium. The name indicates that it integrates everything mentioned so far and, in addition, 340 games that would be part of the catalog of various Sony consoles such as the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 1 and also the PSP. The prices, of course, are higher.

We tell you our opinion of Xbox Series X in an analysis in which we review the technical characteristics of the console, but we also do all kinds of tests to see how the performance, consumption, noise and temperature of the new Xbox are.

While the rest of the subscriptions remain below 100 euros per year, PlayStation Plus Premium starts at 16.99 euros per month, 49.99 for the three-month subscription and 119.99 euros for the annual plan. All PlayStation Now users will be switched to this service until their subscription ends and it’s time to renew at current prices.

Sony has not given a specific date for the arrival of these new subscriptions, but it has said that it would be in June is the month chosen for the process to begin and end. Of course, the first to migrate will be users from Asia and then it will be the turn of the rest of the world. Day one releases are completely out of the game.
