Spain exceeds 40,000 deaths from Covid-19



The autonomous communities have notified the Ministry of Health 19,096 new cases from COVID-19, 8,943 of them diagnosed in the last 24 hours. This is a lower figure than the 25,042 on the same day the previous week.

Of the 8,943 positive diagnosed Yesterday, 616 occurred in Andalusia, 804 in Aragon, 518 in Asturias, 96 in the Balearic Islands, 91 in the Canary Islands, 253 in Cantabria, 185 in Castilla-La Mancha, 25 in Castilla y León, 1,458 in Catalonia, 62 in Ceuta, 143 in the Valencian Community, 408 in Extremadura, 451 in Galicia, 1,742 in Madrid, 33 in Melilla, 383 in Murcia, 238 in Navarra, 1,267 in the Basque Country and 170 in La Rioja.

The global number of infections in Spain now rises to 1,417,709 since the start of the pandemic, according to official statistics. The accumulated incidence in the last 14 days per 100,000 inhabitants stands at 514, compared to 524 yesterday and 528 last Wednesday, with a total of 241,833 positives in the past two weeks.

In the Last week, 1,241 people have died with a confirmed positive COVID-19 diagnosis in Spain. Until 40,105 people with a positive diagnostic test they have died since the virus arrived in Spain, according to the data collected by the Ministry. 349 new deaths were added to Wednesday’s report, compared with 411 yesterday.

This is how the 1,241 deaths in the last week are distributed: 215 in Andalusia, 174 in Aragon, 124 in Asturias, seven in the Balearic Islands, 11 in the Canary Islands, 15 in Cantabria, 50 in Castilla-La Mancha, 183 in Castilla y León, 46 in Catalonia, seven in Ceuta, 76 in the Valencian Community, 76 in the Valencian Community, 45 in Extremadura, 75 in Galicia, 43 in Madrid, five in Melilla, 59 in Murcia, 38 in Navarra, 48 in the Basque Country and 20 in La Rioja.

Currently there 21,051 patients admitted for COVID-19 throughout Spain (20,943 yesterday) and 2,394 in the ICU (3,064 yesterday). In the last 24 hours, there have been 3,093 admissions (2,270 yesterday) and 2,432 new arrivals (2,395 yesterday). The occupancy rate of beds occupied by coronavirus already stands at 16.79 percent (16.91% yesterday) and in ICUs at 31.78 percent (31.70% yesterday).

In the last week, until 5,132 people have required hospitalization due to coronavirus, 172,784 in our pandemic so far: 990 admissions in Andalusia, 383 in Aragon, 502 in Asturias, 64 in the Balearic Islands, 82 in the Canary Islands, 64 in Cantabria, 96 in Castilla-La Mancha, 773 in Castilla y León, 262 in Catalonia, eight in Ceuta, 419 in the Valencian Community, 170 in Extremadura, 349 in Galicia, 335 in Madrid, 22 in Melilla, 331 in Murcia, 152 in Navarra, 24 in the Basque Country and 106 in La Rioja.

In this same period, 398 admissions to intensive care units have been registered (UCI), for a total of 14,499 since the virus arrived in Spain: 55 in Andalusia, 28 in Aragon, 25 in Asturias, 12 in the Balearic Islands, nine in the Canary Islands, four in Cantabria, seven in Castilla-La Mancha, 44 in Castilla y León, 17 in Catalonia, 29 in the Valencian Community, 24 in Extremadura, 45 in Galicia, 13 in Madrid, six in Melilla, 39 in Murcia, 22 in Navarra, seven in the Basque Country and twelve in La Rioja.
