Republican Glenn Youngkin will be Virginia’s next governor, according to a CNN Decision Desk projection.
CNN Screening: Minneapolis Refuses to Reform Police

Minneapolis voters decided to keep the city’s police department intact after protests over George Floyd’s murder swept across the United States last year, according to a CNN projection.
The proposed amendment would have removed the Police Department from the city charter and replaced it with a new Department of Public Safety.
Context: The measure, which was proposed by an activist group called Yes 4 Minneapolis, came more than a year after former Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin killed George Floyd in May 2020.
Floyd’s death at the hands of a white police officer sparked national and global protests against police brutality, racism and social injustice.
New Jersey gubernatorial race adjusts

With 33% of the estimated votes counted, the New Jersey gubernatorial race is shaping up to be very close. It is still too early to project the winner.
This is the situation:
- Democratic Governor Phil Murphy: 49.7%.
- Republicano Jack Ciattarelli: 49.4%.
Murphy is seeking to become the first Democratic governor of New Jersey to be re-elected since 1977.
