Sunday Night Football DraftKings Picks: NFL DFS Lineup Tips for Week 1 Bears-Rams Showdown Tournaments

The first Sunday Night Football matchup of the season features a couple of teams with new quarterbacks, at least new to them. Matthew Stafford and Andy Dalton are certainly not new to everyday fantasy football players, but now that they are both under the command of offensive-minded young coaches, there is renewed hope that they can continue to improve (or hope that Dalton will turn off quickly). so the Bears can insert rookie Justin Fields into their lineup.) Las Vegas sportsbooks opened the Rams as 6.5-point favorites with the over / under set at 43.5, suggesting that the score could be higher than we might expect in Rams games. That’s not what anyone wants for a single-game NFL DFS contest, but with both teams still featuring some high-level talent, we managed to put together what could be a relatively high-scoring DraftKings Showdown lineup.

Before we get into our picks, here are the most notable scoring quirks from DraftKings Showdowns: Full point PPR, and here they are 3-point bonuses for 300 passing yards, 100 rushing yards, and 100 receiving yards. The Captain’s pick costs 1.5 times the player’s original price, but also gets his total points multiplied by 1.5.

DraftKings Showdown Picks: Bears vs. Rams

$ 50,000 budget, at least one player from each team is needed.

Captain (1.5x value, 1.5x points): RB David Montgomery, Bears ($ 12,600)

Montgomery will be used as both a running back and a receiver, having caught 54 passes and had five or more goals seven times in 2020. We don’t necessarily expect him to immediately regain his pace from last season when he eclipsed 27 DraftKings points in five of his last six. games, but we like his projected workload and opportunities to set the pace on the field on fantasy goals.

FLEX: QB Matthew Stafford, Rams ($ 11,600)

There are too many weapons at Stafford’s disposal to expect him to fail this matchup as a home favorite. It doesn’t hurt that, in the absence of a true number one running back, head coach Sean McVay may ask a bit more of his new interlocutor. However, Chicago’s revamped defense offers enough of a threat that we’re not willing to pay the premium to make him captain.

FLEX: WR Allen Robinson, Bears ($ 10,200)

A date with Jalen Ramsey is the polar opposite of a favorable showdown, but sometimes talent and volume take priority in our decision-making process. Also, sometimes in DFS, being a contrary is exactly how you win big in contests. Robinson has accounted for 26.2 percent of the Bears’ goals since 2019, and it’s not like Chicago has brought in a pass receiver that would change that trend. If he can’t bet against Ramsey, Robert Woods ($ 9,000) secures what will likely be the Rams’ two busiest pass receivers.

FLEX: WR Cooper Kupp, Rams ($ 8,800)

We are looking for the Rams’ WR1, a title that Kupp and Woods will share and trade weekly. Kupp gets our first bet on the strength of owning a double-digit touchdown season (2019). With a committed running back, it’s no exaggeration to suggest the Rams will rely more on their pass receivers this week (and season).

FLEX: K Matt Gay, Rams ($ 3,600)

Feel free to switch to Sony Michel ($ 4,800) if you’re bullish on your Week 1 role. However, if the Los Angeles backfield presents too much uncertainty (and not enough pass reception) for your liking, Gay is not a Poor choice given the implications of Las Vegas betting odds. If the Rams are going to comfortably win a relatively low-scoring defensive battle, it won’t come as a surprise to see the kicking game factor prominently in action.

FLEX: WR DeSean Jackson, Rams ($ 1,400)

Even at 34, Jackson can instill fear in coordinators and defenders. Jackson brings a boom or bust element to our lineup, as we are betting on a long-range strike, but Week 1, when he’s at his best, is the best time to roll the dice with him. Kupp and Woods will attract the Bears’ defensive attention, perhaps allowing Jackson to free himself for a high-quality deep goal or two.
