Mini LED technology with more zones, less halo and high refresh rate
The TCL C93 Series or TCL C9935 is the reference for this year. We are facing a Mini LED TV available in 65 and 75 inches, with 4K resolution and a renewed panel where the backlight system has been improved. An Mini LED OD5 panel that promises up to 2,000 nits of brightness and compatibility with HDR10 + and Dolby Vision IQ. TCL explains that it has modified the surface of the LEDs to make them less rectangular, which helps reduce the halo effect.
As described by FlatPanelsHD, these new televisions have 1,080 backlight zones in the 65-inch model and 1,920 zones in the 75-inch model. But if there is a number that stands out, it is the refresh rate. As if it were a gaming monitor, the new Mini LED televisions add a refresh rate up to 144 Hzbeing one of the first televisions to reach this rate together with the Samsung presented this year.
TCL offers HDMI 2.1 on this TV along with ALLM and VRR up to 144 Hz. Inside we find a quad-core processor that powers Google TV, operating system that this year will be available in the entire range.
For sound, the flagship C-series incorporates a system of four 30W speakers plus a 60W subwoofer. An 2.1.2 system compatible with Dolby Atmos and signed by Onkyo. In the case of the C83 series, an Onkyo signed system is also offered.
The C83 or C835 series is very similar, although in this case we have a Mini LED panel from a previous generation. They also repeat features like its 144 Hz refresh rate and HDMI 2.1.
The mid-range TCL C73 and C63 opt for 4K QLED panels, with a size of up to 98 inches in the first range. In this case they also include VRR up to 144 Hz, although the refresh rate is not so high based. In the TCL 63 model, the chosen panel is a more traditional 50 Hz one. In both cases, the presence of the HDMI 2.1 ports is maintained.
At the design level, TCL televisions for this 2022 have a reduced frame design and a metal stand. The C63 series allows you to adjust the TV to two heights to accommodate a sound bar.
At the moment TCL has not shared official prices for its new televisions, although it does explain that they will be available in Europe before June.
