Vagdevi was crowned the winner of Telugu Indian Idol in an eventful finale graced by none other than megastar Chiranjeevi. He presented the coveted trophy along with the prize money of Rs. 10 lakh. The winner was also awarded an additional Rs. 6 lakh.
From the Top 3 Finalists, Sreenivas and Vaishnavi were declared as the first and second runners-up and were awarded cheques of Rs. 3 lakh and Rs. 2 lakh respectively. Vaishnavi also won an opportunity to sing in Megastar Chiranjeevi’s upcoming movie.
Talking about her journey on the show, winner BVK Vagdevi said, “I would like to thank the judges, mentors and all the people for the immense support and love I received on these 15 weeklong journeys of Telugu Indian Idol. My rigorous effort over the past few months has finally paid off with this accomplishment. Geetha Arts has given me a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity which is nothing short of a dream come true for me. I’m thankful to aha for making this opportunity-rich platform for so many participants like me.”
Pranathi, Jayanth, Sreenivas, Vaishnavi and Vagdevi have eventually made it into the finale of Telugu Indian Idol. All the finalists were spotted giving their best in the finale.
Vagdevi’s performances including Aila Aila, Laahe Laahe, Koncham Neeru Koncham Nippu and others in the show have earned her popularity. She is also known for her fun riddles and poems as well. Nandamuri Balakrishna, the special guest in the semi finale, called Vagdevi ‘WowDevi’ and ‘Junior Pooja Hegde’. Thaman, one of the judges of the show, even went to state that she will rule the music industry in the near future.
Vagdevi, who is currently pursuing final year B. Arch in Orissa, wishes to pursue a career in playback singing besides continuing training in classical music and learning other forms of music as well.
The grand finale of the show was a star-studded event with famed actors Rana Daggubati, and Sai Pallavi also joining in. Chiranjeevi’s fun banter with Rana, Sai Pallavi, the contestants and also the judging panel has been one of the highlights of the event which also saw a special jamming session between Karthik and Thaman, the judges of the show.
Telugu Indian Idol hosted by Sreerama Chandra, who was the winner of Indian Idol season 5 of the TV series, was judged by Thaman S, Nithya Menen and Karthik. It marked the hosting debut of Sreerama Chandra while Nithya Menen was also seen as the judge on a Telugu music show for the first time. The show has invited who’s who of the music and entertainment industry including Manisharma, Usha Uthup, Rama Jogayya Sastry, actors Adivi Sesh and his team, Nandamuri Balakrishna and others. Balakrishna was a part of the semi finale episode that streamed on his birthday (June 10).
