Tesla’s GigaPress from Italy’s IDRA Group finalized the 9,000-ton die-casting machine and already shipped out the massive device to the country. Insiders already claim that the machine is coming shortly to Gigafactory Texas, as it is already in the Houston port in late September, soon to deliver the humongous machine to create the Cybertruck.
Elon Musk said that he is excited to see the machine in action when it arrives in Giga Texas soon.
Tesla GigaPress: IDRA Group’s 9,000-ton Machine is in the US

Alexander Tourville confirmed via Twitter that the Tesla GigaPress is already in the country, allegedly arriving at the Houston port last week and is headed to Gigafactory Texas soon. The GigaPress is the 9,000-ton die-casting machine designed for the Cybertruck to soon create the electric pickup’s unibody for its mass production.
Tourville claimed that the machine left Italy last September 3 and arrived 25 days later in Houston on September 28, with a screenshot of its shipping tracker details. It seems like it is already processing on the port, with the casting machine heading to Tesla’s latest Gigafactory, also where the tech CEO is currently based in the company’s latest plant.

Coming Soon to Giga Texas to Produce the Cybertruck
Elon Musk claims that he is excited about the GigaPress’ arrival at Giga Texas, but did not reveal any dates on when to expect the new machine from IDRA Group. The Tesla CEO also did not confirm when the machine would start creating the Cybertrucks it was made to manufacture, as well as the vehicle’s expected delivery dates for next year.
Tesla’s EVs and its Casting Machines
Instead of press machines that place metal sheets in molds or definitive shapes to create a vehicle’s body, Tesla is using die-cast machines to create its unique unibody shells to bolt on EV drivetrains. IDRA previously completed an order for its massive casting machine, and it is the only link to Tesla’s technology, previously supplying one for the Model Y.
Back in 2019, Tesla claimed that it focuses on a massive casting machine for its Cybertruck, and it is the last piece of the puzzle for the electric pickup to start its production.
Previous reports claim that the company is already looking for a new supplier for its GigaPress, and it will change its makes from Italy’s IDRA Group to Switzerland’s Bühler. However, Tesla’s reason for the supplier change remains unknown, and this saw no further updates from the Swiss company or the EV manufacturer.
Still, this new delivery from IDRA with the 9,000-ton casting machine intended for the Cybertruck is coming soon to its flagship factory in the country. It will soon start on the Cybertruck for its much-awaited arrival, after numerous delays on the supposed debut of the vehicle. IDRA Group’s machine is a key device to bring the Cybertruck into mass production, possibly by 2023.
