As announced when it was launched almost a month ago, after a trial period, sanctions will begin to be formalized for those who fail to comply with the Pedestrianization ordinance. At the moment it should be noted that there have been few breaches,

especially during the first two weeks, but a relaxation has been detected in recent days, mainly in the area of Joan Cantó, Diego Fernando Montañés and Bartolomé J Gallardo streets. It is also important to note that the majority of infractions are committed by the same vehicles, being repeat offenders.

It is also important to point out that people who have requested permission and it has been accepted, even if they have not received it, will not be penalized because they have already been included in the database. “For almost a month there have been no sanctions, it has been reported. Our

The intention is not to sanction, on the contrary, the ideal would be for everyone to comply with the ordinance in order to avoid these sanctions ”, explains the Councilor for Works and Sustainable Mobility, Jordi Martínez.

On the municipal website, within the section dedicated to pedestrianization, which can be accessed directly on a banner from the front page, a section has been included with frequently asked questions that citizens have asked through social networks.

It should be noted that many of the questions have referred to the fact of having to be registered in the area of pedestrianization in order to obtain a loading and unloading permit. Two aspects must be pointed out, the first is that before pedestrianization it was forbidden to stop and park in most streets in the area such as Sant Nicolau, Sant Francesc, El Tap, Santa Rita or San Mauro, among others and therefore, anyone that stopped in these streets was exposed to the corresponding sanction. The second point is made regarding another highly raised question and it is that of the elderly who do not have a vehicle. The ordinance specifies that these people can request permission for their relatives, up to two vehicles per home, in this way they can stop in the vicinity of the home within the agreed time, we remember that before pedestrianization it was not allowed at any time.

Another of the doubts that is clarified is regarding the garage permits, which are 24 hours a day and do not have a set schedule. Any owner of a garage space or who has a rented space can access at any time and it is not necessary to be registered in the city in this case to obtain the permit.
