The Board receives 248 applications for agro-industrial incentive aid

From the Extremaduran institution they highlight that the projects presented amount to an investment of more than 295 million euros

The Junta de Extremadura has received a total of 248 applications, from Extremaduran entities, to opt for aid for agro-industrial incentives with projects that amount to an investment of more than 295 million euros.

This new call supposes the injection during the next three years of 25 million euros in agri-food companies, which, in addition, will allow an investment never before made until now, becoming one of the most important projects of the regional government, and rising as key aids in the economy of Extremadura, which go directly to the engine of Extremadura’s agri-food companies.

For this reason, the Ministry of Agriculture encourages, in this way, Extremaduran companies to “take another step in the search for better growth, which allows them to be more competitive, both at a national and European level, through investments aimed at processing and marketing or the development of agricultural products.

62 requests from cooperatives

On the other hand, the regional government has also highlighted the large number of applications from cooperatives in Extremadura, since 62 projects have been submitted with an investment of more than 79.9 million euros.

Likewise, the Board has highlighted several investments such as that of El Escobar, the fruit and vegetable center of Mérida, with an investment of 28.5 million euros; Ulbasa, located in La Albuera, which is dedicated to frozen vegetables, and which has an investment of 19.6 million euros; the company Roler Extremadura, located in Peraleda de la Mata, focused on processed meat, with 15.1 million; and Monliz, an Extremaduran company in Villafranca del Guadiana, which is dedicated to the processing and deep-freezing of fruits and vegetables, and which has an investment of 4.2 million euros.

«The agri-food industry in Extremadura plays a crucial role in the rural world, becoming one of the essential elements to settle the population in the territory, and in this way, help in one of the current challenges that most concern the region, such as the challenge demographic”, they have indicated in a press release.

As a main novelty, this call focuses on investments that are framed within the objectives of the Recovery Instrument, aimed at a recovery of economic, sustainable and digital activity. In other words, the exploitation will be an opportunity for Extremadura and its company.

As for the selection process, from the corrections of the documentation, the competitive concurrence will be established, that is, the applications will be valued according to the points established by the decree.

Finally, from the Junta de Extremadura they point out that, in their “commitment to strengthening agri-food, the latest calls for applicants for agro-industrial incentive aid have been improved and made more flexible with the aim of attracting more companies and generating more business activity”.

“Given the importance of the industry, it is necessary to continue with policies to promote the sector, which result in the improvement of food quality and the increase in employment in the region.”

More than 94 million since September 2015

Since 2015, there have been four calls, with a total subsidy of 94,404,106.98 million euros.

In the 2016 call, a grant of €31,391,257.70 was awarded, in the 2017 call it was €22,163,964.5, in the 2018 call it was €19,731,335.14 and, finally, in the 2019 call of 21,117,549.57.

In total, 672 resolutions have been issued in these four calls.
