The CEV rewards Hidraqua for its commitment to occupational risk prevention



The LLUM Awards, awards granted by the Business Confederation of the Valencian Community (CEV) to recognize the commitment to safety and health at work of companies, have distinguished this Wednesday UBE Corporation Europe SAU and Nanta SA, in its XII edition; and Hidraqua, Gestión Integral de Aguas del Levante SA and MAN Energy Solutions España SAU, at the XIII, in an act that was closed by the Regional Secretary for Employment and General Director of LABORA, Enric Nomdedéu.

At the opening of the event, the president of the CEV, Salvador Navarro, congratulated the award-winning companies for being “a example of safe management in work centers” and highlighted that “these companies can be a stimulus for the business fabric and for Valencian society in achieving the objective desired by all: to get out of this situation together, healthily, socially and economically”.

Likewise, Navarro has highlighted how the tripartite social dialogue between the Government and the social partners has been accompanying the health crisis and how the agreements reached have been part of the solution to this crisis.

The president of the CEV has also referred in his speech to the effort made to reach an agreement in the Roundtable for the Modernization of the Labor Market. “There is no doubt that in the current situation it is important, as we have done, to reach agreements that contribute to generate certainty and that they alleviate the consequences derived from this crisis, as well as promoting those investments and policies that make it easier for our companies to be more productive and therefore more competitive”, he pointed out.

Navarro has requested unity to agree on the “immediate adoption of measures that seek the competitive improvement of our companies based on the decrease in accident rates”, highlighting the implementation of the new Spanish and Valencian Strategies for Safety and Health at Work 2022-2027; the promotion of policies that involve workers and employers in the fulfillment of their respective obligations in PRL and the creation of a system of incentives for preventive management in SMEs.

To conclude, the president of the CEV has highlighted the “firm” commitment of the CEV in preventive matters through different information and awareness actions and has assured that the general improvement of the accident rates in the Valencian Community “must be one more incentive for public administrations, prevention services, employers and workers, and it is in our hands to continue consolidating and improving health and safety conditions in the workplaces of our companies”.

UBE Corporation Europe S.A.U. LLUM Award for Safe Company Trajectory

UBE Corporation Europe SAU, is a chemical industry located in Castellón founded in 1967 under the name of Productos Químicos Esso SA. From an organizational point of view, UBE Corporation Europe belongs to the chemical branch of UBE Industries, a Japanese multinational founded in 1897. It is the only Spanish company that produces Caprolactam, a raw material used in the manufacture of Nylon-6.

Since the origins of UBE Corporation Europe, the safety culture has been integrated at all levels of the company and it was one of the first companies in the Valencian Community to have a safety report prepared in accordance with the initial regulations for serious accidents.

In order to avoid and reduce accidents involving its own personnel and contractors, UBE has a Strategic Safety Plan and a Central Safety Committee; in addition to betting on initial and periodic training in safety and health at work. The firm develops actions in the three areas of health (mental, social and physical) involving workers as agents of their own health to promote change by leading by example.

Nanta, which began its activity in 1968, is the leading company in the manufacture and sale of compound feed in the Iberian Peninsula. Specifically, the LLUM Award goes to the Nanta factory in the town of Meliana (Valencia).

Nanta has, since 2009, the Occupational Health and Safety Management System certificate, initially in OSHAS 18001, which was migrated and certified in ISO 45001:2018 in March 2021, with worldwide recognition to help the entire company. to continually improve the occupational health and safety offered to its employees.

As health and safety managers, they work in a preventive culture model where all the links in the organization participate and are equally involved, sharing and transmitting the SAFETY FIRST message.

The firm gives priority not only to physical well-being, but also to emotional-mental well-being and the happiness of each member of the organization, searching the market for the most effective technologies, health and safety equipment, developing safety practices in situ and measuring with real drills the effectiveness of their actions.
