In August, and taking advantage of the summer break, the Badajoz City Council decided to change the lawn of El Vivero (known as Viejo Vivero). He invested 145,000 euros out of necessity because Santa Teresa had to play on state-of-the-art artificial turf in order to be promoted. The work had to last a few weeks so that the team only played the first games outside its stadium. But it has cost much more. April is ending, Santa Teresa only has 5 of the 30 games left this season and finally their players will step on their field again.

The mayor of Badajoz, Ignacio Gragera, announced this Thursday that the Badajoz Consistory has finally received the work. He indicated that it is now possible to train on the field, which is now only for 11-a-side football due to regulatory requirements. However, it has not yet been approved by the Extremadura Football Federation, so, for the time being, official matches cannot be played.

Gragera recognized the delay in this work due to various difficulties. “There have been a lot of delays, a lot of problems, and we’ve all been hurt,” he said.

In the Nursery there has been a series of chained problems. When they pulled up the turf, they found defects in the sub-base that had to be repaired. Later, when the City Council had to receive it, it demanded improvements from the responsible company because it was not satisfied with the result.

This Thursday, at the inauguration of the field of the Seminary, the mayor of Badajoz recognized that unblocking the situation of El Vivero and the opening of the new playing field in San Fernando helps to “make up for a lack in this area that has forced them for a long time time to have to travel to other areas of the city to be able to play sports, specifically football”.

That yes, in the field of the Seminary the partners of the AP Santa Isabel will have priority, since they have signed an agreement with the Consistory, a formula similar to the one that is already applied in the Cerro de Reyes with the nicknamed field of the cranes . “It is a neighborhood facility and for the neighborhood, although it is not just for them, but we believe that this is the most correct formula,” the councilor from Badajoz said yesterday.

The hours are shared

The advantage for the rest of the clubs is that, now that Santa Isabel has a priority field, it leaves free hours to train at the Viejo Vivero, La Granadilla, Cerro de Reyes and the federation fields in San Roque. All these hours are highly valued for the rest of the clubs. In fact, yesterday the president of AP Santa Isabel, Jesús González, joked about it and said that it was like the lottery, “very distributed.”

The Councilor for Sports, Juancho Pérez, recognized that the inauguration of the field of the Seminary and recovering the field of El Vivero alleviates the demand for grass land that the City Council supports each year so that the clubs have enough hours of training. “Very much. The distribution of hours, which is the Gordian knot of all seasons, helps these facilities. Although there is a collaboration with Santa Isabel, as in the Cerro de reyes, the schedules are managed by FMD and they will be distributed.
