Netalia due to the fifteen workers of the company awarded the cleaning of the public residence for those over Torrevieja five payrolls: two extra payments and three monthly payments. This weekend the staff has returned to concentrate for the umpteenth time to demand that the Generalitat, the administration that manages the healthcare center, be held responsible for the non-compliance of the signature with the staff – which are also responsible for the specifications by not pay their salaries to employees who have not stopped providing the service at any time. “Guilty Netalia, responsible counselor” It was the motto that was repeated the most during the protest. What they want is to charge. Because the payment of housing rents and food for fifteen families depends on their payroll.
In Saturday’s protest, the cleaners had strong support from union members Workers’ Front in Struggle, who moved from Valencia and Murcia to attend the concentration of the Plaza de la Constitución. Union that has also provided food for the affected families.
In recent months they have also had the support of the PP of Torrevieja and the mayor, Eduardo Dolón, who has attended some of the protests at the door of the residence. In this sense, the workers have thanked the City Council for the lots of food and basic necessities that they have received.
It remains unclear why Netalia, which promotes on its corporate website that it is the leading company in the sector in the province with services of quality and excellence and which has not commented on the labor dispute, it does not pay the payroll to its workers for a center in which hygiene and cleanliness are essential, especially during this health crisis: it is a public residence with more than 200 elderly people, between valid and large dependents.
The Generalitat, and specifically the Ministry of Inclusive Policies who drives Monica Oltra, It has limited itself to indicating that it pays this successful tenderer in the same regular payment period of the public administration with the rest of its suppliers, for which it assigns the responsibility of non-payments to the company.
Carmen Chazarra, one of the employees explained that the problems of non-payments have been constant since Netalia took over the service four years ago. “And now it has become more complicated. No response received from the company. We are having a bad time because there are people who live for rent. They have dependent children. Enough already. It is not possible to allow that fifteen families are going through necessities and hardships ”.
