After a brief postponement on land waiting for the wind to break, the day was easily saved thanks to a NE breeze that started out weak with just seven knots, but as it cleared the usual “donkey belly” it rose to all twelve, accompanied by a shorter and more comfortable wave than yesterday.

An auspicious day that the lightest athletes in the fleet took advantage of. In the double 29er class, the Codoñer brothers of the Real Club Náutico de Valencia jump from third to first place in the general classification and surprise the fleet, because after 8 races contested they lead not only the absolute provisional but also the men’s U19 7 U17 categories , treasuring three brand-new firsts in its computation. The Laiseca sisters, representatives of the organizing club, continue to lead the women’s absolute and climb in the general classification, by winning the second test of the day.

Surprise again with the young Gran Canaria Martina Lodos / Martina Díaz. They showed great temperance on the race course and did not waste today’s conditions that benefited them, reaping some magnificent partials (1-4-6 and 15 that they discarded) which allows them to be one more day in front of the U19 classification and U17 female. Tomorrow, Saturday, 4 tests scheduled for this double class, where the little difference in score between the first three representatives, with the Valencian Hnos. Codoñer and Quicorras Urios / Filippo Binetti will make things difficult for Álvaro Alonso / Guillermo Castellano of the RCNGC, who He is currently in second place in the general classification and in the men’s U19 classification.

Spanish Cup ILCA4

Today began the competition in the water, after yesterday’s measurement day, essential in these appointments. The large registration of 129 boats forced the division of the fleet into two groups (red and yellow) that will compete in the six qualifying races. The light breeze and the desire to compete complicated the beginning of the first two tests, with several general calls.

Finally, it was possible to finish three valid tests where the Balearic Daniel Cardona of the S´Arenal Yacht Club starts sending the provisional in the male U18 category while in the female category it is Claudia Adán representing the Nautico de Sta. Pola. Regarding the youngest, grouped in the U16 category, the local Pol Nuñez with a fourth in the last regatta of the day in the red group, has allowed him to “treat” the most veteran. Adriana Castro from RCN Torrevieja, shone in the second round with an eighth and inaugurates the provisional classification of this female category.

Tomorrow, a decisive day for both classes, trusting that these breezes will continue to continue adding valid regattas to the final count.

The 29er Spanish Championship and the ILCA4 Spanish Cup have the support of the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo de Gran Canaria through the Insular Sports Institute, the Capital City Council represented in the Municipal Sports Institute, as well as the collaboration Maritime Captaincy, Naviera Armas-Transmediterránea, the Canarian and Insular Sailing Federations, Vela Latina, Puerto de las Palmas and the Higher Sports Council.
