The General Council of Economists of Spain organizes the first edition of Audiovisual Communication Contest on Financial Education, an initiative with which it intends to give continuity to I national edition of the Economic Debate Tournament in Baccalaureate which it organized in 2019, and which, as a consequence of the special circumstances caused by the covid-19 health crisis, cannot be carried out on this occasion.
In this sense, the College of Economists of Alicante will host the local phase. To this end, provincial educational centers have been invited to participate in the competition. As it is a national competition, each province develops the local phases on different dates, although they are between October 15 and December 14.
In this new format, participating high school students, what will they form teams of four will record their speeches on a video of a maximum duration of 4 minutes, in which they must transmit with short and clear messages your position on the issue: “In this crisis situation caused by covid-19, is it more responsible to consume or to save?”
The contest is part of the activities of the 2018-2021 Financial Education Plan of the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) and the Bank of Spain, to which the General Council of Economists is attached as a collaborating entity, and aims to promote the development of skills that help students in their training, work and social life, delving into greater training to critically examine issues related to economic-business reality with the aim of promote the acquisition of an adequate level of financial culture and economic thinking by pre-university students.
From the October 15 and until December 14 the local phase of the contest in which the educational centers of different provinces of Spain that have registered through the 25 Associations of Economists and Business Owners that participate in the initiative will participate.
Each registered educational center will present a team, which will represent the college of economists or business owners in its territory. Due to the number of centers registered to date, it is expected to exceed the number of those that did so last year (close to 200), as well as the number of participating students (around 1,000).
After the local phase, the 25 best videos will go to the national phase, to be held from December 18 to January 20. The final of this contest will take place on January 28, 2021 in an online event, in which The award will be given to the two best videos selected by the jury, as well as to the video with the most views on the YouTube channel of the General Council of Economists.
