The province of Alicante you already have the deep freezers that will house the first doses of Pfizer vaccine that will begin to arrive imminently, taking into account that on Sunday 27 the first people will be vaccinated against the coronavirus simultaneously in all autonomous communities. In the province of Alicante, Health has acquired an ultra-freezer that, together with those already in hospitals and other health facilities, will be able to store about 190,000 doses to protect 95,000 people, since each patient will receive two punctures 20 days apart. The storage capacity in the three provinces is 600,000 doses. Pfizer’s vaccine can be stored for six months at minus 80 degrees, five days at temperatures between 2 and 5 degrees and six hours from its reconstruction with physiological saline.
The Ministry announced yesterday that finally the first doses will go to the elderly and nursing home workers, as well as to large dependents who live at home. In the province, about 24,000 people would receive those first doses of medicine.
These population groups will be followed by health personnel, the general population over 64 years of age, people with risky conditions, those who live or work in closed communities or environments, people belonging to vulnerable populations due to their socioeconomic situation, workers in essential professions, teaching staff, the child population, adolescents and young people over 16 years of age, adults, the population of areas of high incidence or outbreak situations, pregnant women and mothers who provide natural breastfeeding and finally the population seropositive to SARS-CoV-2.
On the other hand, the Síndic de Greuges, Ángel Luna, has warned that Primary Care has lost its condition of proximity and closeness to patients who, moreover, suffer from a lack of information on the operation of health centers, “which it generates the perception of neglect and abandonment ». This is stated in the resolution of the ex officio complaint about the situation of Primary Care in the Valencian Community. The Catalan Ombudsman urges Health to implement specific plans that make it possible to use all the resources of the public health system intensively, to guarantee telephone and telematic accessibility for citizens to Primary Care centers, as well as to use face-to-face care as the first option of assistance, especially in the most fragile population.
Regarding the daily balance of cases, the province of Alicante registered 567 new cases of coronavirus yesterday. In the Community, 2,189 people have been infected in the last hours, which has triggered the incidence to 271 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. La Valenciana is, in this sense, the third autonomy with the worst data of the pandemic, only behind Madrid and the Balearic Islands.
Finally, the Sant Joan Hospital has had to prohibit visits to the Oncology and Neurology plants after detecting an outbreak that affects 10 workers and two patients from these services. Until the origin of the cases is clarified, visits will not be allowed in these plants, except in exceptional cases. Visits at the San Vicente Hospital have also been prohibited until Monday after testing positive for a patient who has been referred to the corresponding hospital.
