The Consell wants to open nine nursing homes in the province until 2025

The Consell undertakes to invest more than 67 million euros for to have 22 public residences in the province by 2025 with the creation of another nine centers in Castalla, Ibi, Dénia, Pedreguer, Pinoso, San Juan, Sax, Rojales and Orihuela. In this sense, the holder of Inclusive Policies It pointed out that investment in Social Services has gone from 4.1 million to 23.7 million from 2016 to 2021 in the province, with which 1,083 professionals will be hired this year. For this reason, he understands that this plan is committed to building a system “with decent benefits” and a new model of social services “focused on proximity, municipalism and the organization of competences.”

In addition to the construction of new centers, it is expected that this multi-year plan will serve to comprehensively rehabilitate certain nursing homes that need intervention like that of Torrevieja, Alicante or Catí in Elda, among other.

Mental health

In the mental health sector, 18.3 million euros will be invested to create seven new CEEM (centers for the chronically mentally ill) and CRIS (rehabilitation and social insertion centers), in addition to guaranteeing resources in all social services departments.

Regarding the childhood sector, 11 actions will be carried out with the launch of seven day centers, three family meeting points and a reception residence in Torrevieja. An investment of 6.5 million euros is planned and the main bet is daytime resources.

In the area of ​​sexist violence, one million euros will be invested to increase the Women’s Centers network with new points, as well as the expansion of its own residential network in collaboration with the Department of Housing. Oltra estimates that the plan will have “a feminist perspective” to revalue the care and economy of raising, caring for and curing and anticipates that they can generate more than a thousand direct jobs in the province.

A single company will maintain public centers with 24-hour service

The Convivint Plan contemplates centralizing a maintenance contract for all public centers made up of 84 professionals, in addition to 24-hour service for urgent repairs. This plan also marks that reforms will be made in 17 buildings in the province, including residences for the elderly (7), for people with disabilities (2) as well as centers for minors or child protection (6). The other two actions will be in the comprehensive recovery centers for women in Alicante and in the Campoamor socio-community center.

It is also expected to improve the fire safety conditions and the accessibility of the spaces so that they are updated to the new technical building code.
