During today’s process, the lawyers of those affected have been given a document of 504 pages and 3 hours to read, after which each of them will have about 10 minutes to plead ‘in voce’ regardless of how many people they represent, which is branded as an ‘arbitrary procedure’ by any of the defenses.

Junts demands Sánchez to act

This economic process, repairing in the terminology of the Court of Accounts itself, is one of the “stones on the road”, According to the Government, in its pact with the pro-independence parties that started a few days ago with the granting of pardons to the nine prisoners convicted of sedition by the Supreme Court in 2019.

In this context, Jordi Sànchez, pardoned and Secretary General of the Junts, has demanded today the Executive to force the State Attorney to change your criteria in the next phase of the process in the Court of Accounts. Until now, the Lawyers have asked those involved in illegal spending to repair the cost to the public coffers of the Generalitat.

Catalan Lawyers and Catalan Civil Society

In addition to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office, there are two Catalan entities, as a public action, who demand the reparation of the undue spending in the accounts of the Generalitat of Catalonia: Catalan Lawyers for the Constitution and Catalan Civil Society, who also appeared in the case of the expenses for the illegal referendum.

Today’s act at the Court of Accounts do not decide whether or not there is accounting responsibility, rather, a preliminary and provisional pronouncement is made on them. Possible accounting responsibilities will be determined in the corresponding jurisdictional procedure, which will be held later. This Tuesday is a phase prior to a possible jurisdictional procedure: the phase of investigative actions prior to the requirement of accounting responsibilities; that is, in the investigation phase of the procedure.
