The European Comission (EC) announced this Sunday the deployment of €50 million additional to finance humanitarian projects in Ukraine Y moldova as a consequence of the invasion of russia, the institution reported in a statement. Specifically, 45 million euros will be allocated to Ukrainewhile the remaining 5 million will be dedicated to projects in moldovaa border country that is hosting part of the ukrainian refugees fleeing their country due to the military conflict. The 50 million will be used to satisfy the “most pressing” humanitarian needs through an improvement medical servicesfacilitating access to drinking waterhygiene, shelter, protection and cashas well as support against gender-based violence.
“With these additional 50 million euros, the EU continues to rapidly make humanitarian funding available to its partners with the aim of increasing their aid,” said Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarcic.
Lenarcic stressed that Ukraine’s needs “are already massive”, with “millions of people on the move or trapped in war zones”. In addition, he has added that it is now necessary to “prepare” for a phase of new “merciless” attacks from Moscowespecially in the east of the country.
The EU has contributed 143 million
