We do it again on a Tuesday after a Monday night 1-1 at the best bets. It’s safe to say the Raptors are going to suck this season. Hey may receive Adam Gase’s automatic dimming treatment from me in the future.
As for tonight, there are only five games on the NBA schedule. I’m going to test the new NBA covid game schedule, where a team plays its opponent twice in back-to-back games in the same arena. He Lakers play the Grizzlies for the second night in a row, while the Nuggets face the Timberwolves at the back of a two-game series.
This season to limit travel, the NBA has begun scheduling two-game, one-city series. Unlike previous years, these short series were played at home and at home. This year, when the teams come to town, they relax for a couple of days.
So far there have been five sweeps in these series: the Rockets over the Kings, the Magic eliminated the Wizards, the Bucks swept the Wizards, the 76ers defeated the Hornets and the Lakers both took the Spurs. In these 10 wins, the overwhelming teams have covered the margin 80% of the time. He Wizards were involved in two of the sweeps, while the Lakers and 76ers won four of the games. He Rockets and Kings split ATS (against the spread), while the Lakers lagged behind against the Spurs. Tonight we have two teams looking to complete the sweep.

NBA Best Bets: Tuesday, Anuary 5
Los Angeles Lakers vs Memphis Grizzlies (+9) Total: 218.5
I really hate having favorites, especially when the favorite is LeBron Ames in a nationally televised game. He Lakers crushed the Grizzlies in Game 1 of this series. He Grizzlies are missing A Morant, and he is the only Grizzlies player who can constantly push the defense and create his own shot. He Lakers come into this game healthy and LeBron Ames will most likely play because you can’t carry scabies on nights when a nationally televised game is played unless you are actually injured. This game opened with the Lakers as favorites by 9.5 points, but there has been some hard money from the Grizzlies who have dropped the line by half a point. Ultimately, I am not concerned, as the money was lost in the NBA last night. He Grizzlies are 2-4 ATS on the season, while the Lakers are 4-3. He bottom line is that without Morant, the Grizzlies won’t be able to keep up with the Lakers.
Best bet: Lakers -9
Best bet 4-7 ATS
Specific combinations and accessories
Minnesota Timberwolves vs Denver Nuggets (-10.5)
He Denver Nuggets didn’t look good to start the season and are 2-4 straight to start the season. He Timberwolves have struggled too, and the loss of Karl Anthony-Towns has set them back once again. Minnesota is currently in the midst of a four-game losing streak and I don’t see things looking up anytime soon. I’m going to put in another double-digit favorite looking for a sweep, but I’m not as confident in the Nuggets as I am in the Lakers.
He choice: Nuggets -10.5
Utah Azz vs Brooklyn Nets (+5)
He underperforming Brooklyn Nets are playing their fifth straight home game tonight. Hey’ll be without Kevin Durant and you never know if Kyrie Irving might decide to take the night off too. He Azz have won three of their last four games and appear to have regained their charm. I’m not really interested in one side in this game, although I did get to see the Nets pull off the surprise. However, I do like a couple of props bets focused on the top two players in Utah. Brooklyn has struggled on the boards and scoring guards have given them trouble as well, so I hope those trends remain the same tonight.
He supports: Donovan Mitchell over 25.5 points and Rudy Gobert over 13.5 rebounds
