The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is not the new Classic

First of all, I have to tell you that I have already had the new wearables in my hands. The photos that you are going to see are my own and something that caught my attention about the Pro model was its design.

It has a titanium body that has a kind of rimforming something like a circular soccer stadium in which the edge is the stands and the interior, the screen, is the panel.

It does not have a mechanical bezel, but a tactile one and the somewhat raised rim, in addition to protecting the screen, allows you to perform the circular gesture to navigate through the menu somewhat more comfortably.

when i spoke with One of the Samsung representatives at the event told me that this Watch 5 Pro is not here to replace the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic with its mechanical bezel, so, for the moment, both will coexist in the market for those who prefer one experience or another.

This Pro model arrives with only one screen configuration, a 1.4” Super AMOLED with a resolution of 450 x 450 which corresponds to the classic 44 millimetres, with sapphire crystal and general protection IP68.

It has Always on Display mode and the truth is that, although the environment in which we saw the watch was quite dark, so I cannot assess the brightness, the resolution is impeccable.

The battery of this model has a 590 mAh capacity and has a fast charge, up to 60% faster than that of the previous generation.

If we go to the sensors, it has the same BioActive that we saw in the Watch 4, but with some improvements, as it better crosses blood oxygen and heart rate data to offer more accurate measurements. And yes, it also has a skin temperature sensor.

The processor of both is the Exynos W920 at 1.18 GHz and they have 1.5 GB of RAM with 16 GB of storage. The system is WearOS 3.5 with Samsung customization.

The Watch 5 is the “classic” Active

On the other hand we have the Watch 5 model, just plain. This follows the line of the Watch 4 and, obviously, of the Active, with a more compact design and without that extra circular protection, but maintaining the tactile perimeter.

The body is made of aluminum and this will be available in two screen sizes. On the other hand, the 44-millimeter one will have a 1.4-inch screen with a resolution of 450 x 450 pixels, a Super AMOLED panel and Always on Display mode and, on the other, the 40-millimeter one is the same, but with a 1.2-inch panel. ” and 396 x 396 resolution.

The Watch 5’s battery maintains fast charging, but with a capacity of 410 mAh for the 44-millimeter model and about 284 mAh for the 40-mm We want to see how it behaves on a day-to-day basis.

Launch and price of the Galaxy Watch 5

Given the features, it’s time to talk about the price. The two models can be reserved starting today, with delivery on August 26.

The price of the different models will be:

  • Galaxy Watch 5 – from 299 euros for the Bluetooth version and from 349 euros for the LTE version
